    Beck

How the hell is there no thread for Beck!?

Anyway, he's working on TWO new albums with one scheduled for release this fall, but I didn't come here to post about that. I came here to find out if a good bootleg exists of his surprise acoustic show from last night, which included performances from his sheet music only album, Song Reader.

At LPR, no less! There's no way I would have had the wherewithal to land tickets to that, but what an incredible setting, and an interesting setlist to boot.

TWO new albums!? I haven't even been able to purchase Song Reader.

I'm super excited! I've never seen him live, so I'm hoping I can do that with the upcoming acoustic shows he still has to announce.

That's my favorite album. It's truly one of the most heartbreaking albums ever made.

Wow, new tracks are really good. Liking "Defriended" in particular. I haven't been especially sold on any of Beck's stuff since Guero, but the new album(s) seem promising.

I bought two copies of I Won't Be Long 12" a couple weeks ago, they are really nice singles. I really love Midnite Vultures and Sea Change. I didn't really like Modern Guilt all that much but I thought The Information was good.

"I want to get with you! And your sister, I think her name's Debra!" - YES!

I adore Midnite Vultures. "Sexx Laws" and "Nicotine and Gravy" were my jams as a 9 year old. The latter is still my favourite Beck song to this day.

OH MAN! "Nicotine and Gravy" is a great track, I also like "Peaches and Cream," "Milk and Honey," and of course, "Debra."

I love "Debra". That song is so hilarious but has so much soul.

It'd be hard to say which Beck album is my favorite, but I listen to Midnite Vultures the most, and have since I first listened to it. Such a solid album all around. I'm interested in hearing what he has in store for us this time around.

I think Midnight Vultures is one of his most under appreciated albums. Some amazing production, especially for the time.

Beck released another new single, Gimmie. It can be purchased on his website in vinyl format and includes a 30 minute extended mix of the song (!!!).

That's so awesome. I probably first heard Midnite Vultures right around that age, too, after my mom bought the CD. It was definitely one of my childhood albums. I remember I would be in the car, daydreaming and imagining various characters (including Pokemon, lol) dancing to/singing the music.

Actually, it was the first Beck CD I ever heard, as far as I remember.

I had no idea that beck did three new songs for Sound Shapes until I was searching for more info on the new album on Wikipedia.

    Here they are:
    Cities:

    Touch the People:

    Spiral Staircase:

Bonus Video and my favorite cover anyone has done of David Bowie
(I'm surprised no one has mentioned this. I find it to be the most enchanting performance I have ever seen by an artist):

I dunno, I feel like it's too derivative of The Pyramid Song by Radiohead.

I'm amping up... Beck season is approaching.

    Defriended is amazing. Just saying.

I have a thing for Gimme and I Won't Be Long too.

(I realize these songs are standalone tracks and won't be on Morning Phase.)

Beck has been saying that Morning Phase will be reflective of Sea Change (my favorite Beck album). Blue Moon seems to support that; what a great track. I'm really looking forward to this album.
