15. Head Like A Hole
Wow, outside of The Frail that is a pretty in your face setlist. I really hope we get Suck during one of the upcoming streams.
Fucking intense.
Seems like someone was mad about having to play before Biffy Fuckin Clyro of all the bands in the god damn world.
This show is like the anti-Sonisphere. My god.
When I saw Muse a few months ago, Biffy Clyro was supposed to be the opener, but had to pull out at the last minute due to illness. I had never heard of them before that but gathered via google that they were bug shit in the UK. now I wish they did play just so I would know what they sound like and have some context for this.
That was supposed to say big shit, but bug shit makes me laugh so I'm not correcting it.
Holy fucking shit. In one way it would be cool for a NIN fan to get up close, the other way is its kind of emberassing they can only draw that kind of crowd there.
Anyways judging by the songs he probably knew what he was getting into- and hopefully playing a "heavier" set list made the other fans jaws drop.
EDIT: Anyone know if this is the first time a show opened with Pinion into Wish? Don't recall having a tour like that even back in the day.

Some With Teeth shows, e.g. http://www.ninwiki.com/2005/06/22_Paris,_France
They opened some shows in 2009 like that also.

They're shite sandwiching it.
It really sucks how UK bands get all these privileges at UK festivals. Nine Inch Nails comeback tour with amazing stage show has to open for a bunch of shite?
I hope that at least the 14 NIN fans at the festival had a great time seeing the band and the shorter, but heavy and surprising set.

For everyone at Leeds.Do to circumstances out of our control it was the worst concert experience in my career.A Career spanning 25 years! RP
Leeds... what a clusterfuck.
OK, that's one festival NIN should never ever play ever again. I bet the bootleg for that show isn't even worth listening to.
Leeds was a disaster, as was Pukkelpop...Interesting that NIN still gets shitty reception from European crowds at festivals at times. Obv a few years ago all the issues they had in Germany etc....For whatever reason, NIN still hasn't really become as big in Europe as they are in America. I still think its because TR basically ignored Europe the first few tours. they never went there for PHM except the very end of the tour for a week with GNR and TDS they toured for 2 years and only did a 3 week tour of Europe. a band like Faith No More gets insane love from European crowds to this day, and going back to their first breakthrough album (1990), on that tour they did 7 tours of Europe. If TR did 2 or 3 runs through Europe on PHM, he would probably get more love from those crowds....NIN just hasn't translated in Europe like they should have..too many bad shows, tours and "incidents" over the years....I think the british press still gives him shit for cancelling that London 2000 show when he OD'ed
Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly does that mean? Are they pretty much saying that its 'no big deal' to headline Leeds?
It means they're fucking hipster!! Maybe they cracked a couple of decade old Nickelback jokes during their stand-up comedy hour amid flaming balls or whatever.
In all fairness I haven't listened to them yet, but guessing they can't even make a name for themselves here probably says a lot.
I agree. Although I doubt it still has to do with the lack of touring in the early years. Just look at recent tours. The impressive Lights In The Sky tour never made it to Europe. And let's be honest, NIN are famous for their elaborate stage show. Not to an extend like Rammstein, where it's ALL about the show (and little about the music), but to a point where NIN just stand out as a live act.
With Teeth era: Europe got one short tour run. The US got 4 (!) tours: club tour 2005, arena tour 2005 and another run in 2006 and the most elaborate summer tour 2006
Year Zero era: This time Europe got more dates, but it was either mostly festivals or Performance 2007 with no production at all.
Lights In The Sky: As mentioned, never made it to Europe
Wave Goodbye: Again, the US got all the goodies whereas Europe got one run, mostly festivals again
So, if Trent wants to appeal to a different audience these days, now is the time to tour Europe. #Tension2014 please.
never mind.

You're totally wrong, complete non sense. Each french nin show was full or almost. Who cares about festival crowds ? also what means europe exactly ? because france never been so much into metal, but germans ? germans knows a lot about industrial rock, did you hear that amazing festival crowd.
NIN really doesn't draw a big audience at least in Germany. Of course the three to four shows they do are full and a city like Berlin has its fair share of music lovers. But true NIN fans are not too common these days in Germany so I was more than amazed by the Rock n Heim crowd.
QOTSA will outplay NIN on any occasion in Europe.
So, in what foreign places are NIN appreciated then? Japan? Australia? South America?
Definitely in Australia. Shows are always sold out. Mind you, audiences in Melbourne can be pathetic in my experience, as they mostly just stand there and ogle the stage. And there is always some obnoxious shit yelling out during The Frail and Hurt.
Its not that they are not appreciated they have a huge cult following in the UK. The London shows sell out instantly always. That Scala gig was the hottest ticket in town. Its just the Reading/Leeds shows are aimed at 15 year old Pop Punk fans. Its the wrong place for NIN. This experience may have contributed to Trent wanting to cancel the Soundwave shows in Oz because these shows are the wrong vibe for NINs music caliber.
Reading will be better though.
