http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03961vn The Downward Spiral and The Fragile underscore a lot of this Documentary, especially the grim scenes. The program clearly thought it appropriate material, mind it is getting a bit cliche now. He's still haunted by his young addictions. Whenever theres a piece on drug abuse you're always guaranteed to hear something prior to the With Teeth era.

I see I'm buying something this week!

Wait. So what Trent Reznor really wants to do is direct?

"I'm thinking a super low-brow bro comedy," he says dryly. "I'm into nut humor."
And this part isn't helping me with my wait.

"We tried not to do the classic Nine Inch Nail things on the album," says co-producer Alan Moulder, who has worked with Reznor going back to The Downward Spiral. "The old trademark with Trent was that when we got to the chorus, the songs go up a step, he sings in his highest range possible, and a million guitars come in. We tried to do the opposite on this one. The choruses actually go down; the sound is more withheld than explosive, which is a much harder thing to do."

I could be wrong, but I think Spin is digital-only now, right?

Hullo, methinks I see extra unused lyrics for Disappointed.

Left center. Seems to be an unused verse:

    All of this
    Theater(?)
    I wouldn't waste
    Your voice
    Comes a day
    You figure out
    You never had
    a choice

Immediately below that is '(and I am part of the reason)' which comes on the track after the 'superman' verse, which is placed here at the top of the middle row. Sweet, I hope more are like that. I loved reading all those extra snippets in the W_T pdf.

Can't provide a link cos I read it in Sainsburys, but the latest Mojo has a three page interview with Trent in it. Not a tremendous amount of new ground covered, unless you wanted to know that Lindsey Buckingham is one of his neighbours, and that TR and Josh Homme had deep conversations about whether they were still taking the right path in their musical careers (or words to that effect, he glossed over it a bit), but one thing that stuck out was him confirming the deal with Columbia is for one album only. Not sure if that's already been stated elsewhere on here, if so, apologies.

You know I didn't think I could like "Down In It" any less, but then AV club hat Kurt Viles play it, yep that's somehow worse.

haha wow, that's some awesome marketing budget right there! At least the font and logo are right!

I might have to look out for some in Munich.

Richard Patrick mentioned NIN a load of times at the gig in London last night, said he used to nickname Trent 'Gizmo' back in the day and how he's really happy for him now even if he looks a bit like Henry Rollins now. Also said he was glad to see some old NIN fans in the crowd.

Am I the only one who doesn't get how that is a problem ?
And am I a bad person for thinking Richard Patrick is desperately clinging to Reznor in the hopes of reminding everyone he was part of NIN once, which would presumably make him awesome by proxy ?
Guess I didn't swallow the fact that he dissed The Fragile every time he could when he had his big time under the spotlights. I'm a grumpy old man...

He really doesn't let go any given opportunity to remind everyone how he is friends with TR forgetting that he wasn't for quite a while. But what gives... we all know who has the advantage at this point eventhough I enjoy some Filter here and there and always will.

The comments about Trent's appearance already got on my nerves by 2005. What is he supposed to look like? Judging from the Reading footage that man looks way better than everyone I can think of at his age and wihtin the music business. And a point that many people seem to forget is that in order to perform such high octane songs at any show for such a long touring cycle screaming, playing instruments and having an unmistakeably stage persona one just has to look after himself. Now more than ever and good lord he rips everyone's faces off! So working out has had a huge payoff for Trent and there's jealousy everywhere you look... He could like Manson right now if he didn't take care of certain things and I highly doubt that that is what people want.

Well I don't think so somehow, Trent may be more successful but they have been through similar stuff, drugs etc and are both more settled now, doesn't seem too much of a stretch for them to be friends now. And he didn't say the Henry Rollins thing in a snide way either. RP came come quite nice actually.

Yeah, as I implied, I don't feel to classy spitting on him like that, benefit of the doubt and all. I guess that, for a long time the press put him in Reznor's shadow and I guess it takes it's toll when you crave to express yourself as an artist. Alcohol and drugs don't help. Forget I said anything.

Filter ranted about a shitty Leeds experience aswell on twitter so that of course ties them together aswell. Sadly I missed the Filter show last week...
