And then you remember that Getting Smaller leaked onto the net because a working mix was on a CD in his car's disc drive and the valet lifted it...

well technically speaking minidiscs, as a format, are largely forgotten about.

It's a small improvement, but the thing to remember is that the sources are not lossless. Also, there was 56:53 of (uncleared) samples cut from the official release. It's stilll more than worth $23.

Also depends what method was used to extract the MDs. I did a project recently and it was remarkably hard to do a full fidelity digital extraction. I suspect Radiohead haven’t (or their archive copy would be atrac) so likely an analogue recording.

They've also added mastering moves (including a bit of limiting) to the official version. It's a smoother listen overall, but some of the full band tracks are slightly less dynamic, I think.

I used Audacity to check the first 3 (MD111-MD113): there is difference in the left and right channels. I still suspect this was recorded in SP mode (5:1 compression) @ 292 kbps.

So, it seems that Thom Yorke really liked Year Zero's ARG and he is doing his own for his new solo album.

I am so sad not to be excited by any of this.

I mean, an acoustic solo show, I would go in a heartbeat!

I'd say it's likely the only time you'll see Thom with a guitar again is when he's fronting Radiohead.

I pre-ordered the Anima vinyl, but passed on the Greek Theater shows, as I caught him last December at the Orpheum in LA.

The short film/triple music video they released on Netflix is pretty cool. Awesome choreography.

Still on first listen of the album. Pitchfork was correct when they said basically where Atoms For Peace left off (not that that is a bad thing).

Basically a Thom Yorke X Boards of Canada collab...

My first listen of a Thom Yorke solo album usually end up in frustration or boredom. But the further the album went, the more the atmosphere and sounds made sense, the easier it got. Very Atom for Peaces like. Which I end up loving. I will listen at least a second time.

Also, Aenima, Anima. Alright I'm done.

Really liking the new album. Much more punchy and energetic than the previous album, which, while it had its moments, felt fairly regressive. This album feels like it's going forward, backwards, and side to side and I'm all in for it.

Never been the biggest fan of Thom's solo stuff, but this album really does it for me. I agree with what all the reviews seem to be saying that it's his first solo album where it feels complete and not like a bunch of half finished demos.

As uneasy as the album may be, Thom Yorke finds a way to pull you into his journey and pushes your musical boundaries. And even though not everything is joy, I still find some comfort in his melodies. I love Anima. I won't listen to it everyday, but the experience was worth it.

    very well said sir.
I'm usually not a fan of his solo stuff ut this is quite an enjoyable listen, and yeah not everyday.

I saw Thom Yorke last night. You gotta see this show. Tarik Barri (the third guy) creates incredible visual contents. With 5 non-Radiohead albums to cover, there are a lot to digest. I thought I was familiar with everything, but maybe one song or two slipped my knowledge (either from Suspiria or a b-side). It was a nice change of pace from Radiohead and I didn't expect to appreciate as much as I did. My wife came with me and she knew one song and saw the Netflix special, but she enjoyed it all the way.

Go check some youtube, it's worth it.

Great show last night in Seattle. I've seen Radiohead a handful of times since 2001, and it was cool to see Thom in a smaller venue and very different format. Dawn Chorus and Unmade were great, intimate performances.
He apparently came out about a half hour after the show ended and signed things for people who were still hanging around, in case anyone going to an upcoming show is into the autographs.

Buddy bought me a ticket for Radio City 3/20. I didn't really tell him I was def. in, but he went ahead anyway. It's all good, he got good seats and I def. wanna see Thom solo.
