so for the first time ever, i have Everson Poe material coming out that was mixed by someone other than me.
my friend db was in the middle of mixing my next album (yes, i recorded FIVE albums in 2020; more info coming in a month) and asked if i wanted to do a split together. he sent me the songs he was working on which served as excellent inspiration for what i ended up doing, and now it's up for pre-order! i love his songs and i love the way he made my songs sound and i'm so excited for this to get out there.
full album stream is up thanks to Cave Dweller Music!
hey, y'all! my new album & shirt are up for pre-order! http://eversonpoe.bandcamp.com/album/grief
there's a (long, pretentious) writeup on my bc page about the album, if you're curious. this is my first single-story-driven concept album and i'm incredibly proud of it. it was also mixed/mastered/co-produced by my friend db, and i'm just so happy with how he helped me shape it in a way that i couldn't have done on my own.
oh, and if you're not into screaming vocals, it comes with an entirely instrumental version of the album as bonus tracks!
anyway, thanks to everyone who has supported my music on here. i hope you enjoy the new stuff <3

got interviewed by a friend/labelmate for the new site they just launched! pretty awesome to be the first.![]()

new song featuring my friend db (aka the sun came up upon the left) on verse vocals. he also co-produced & mixed it.
this is a bit different from me and leans more into some of the harsh electronic music i listen to. i hope you like it as much as i do <3

got a really nice review for Grief from The Sleeping Shaman!
...from blissful post-metal, atmospheric shoegaze and fierce black metal all brilliantly interwoven…
Grief officially came out yesterday! people really seem to be liking it, which is awesome.
also, i'm already almost done with another album. out of 4 songs, one needs a couple more guitar parts, and one needs bass & lyrics/vox. that's it. i've done most of the work on it in the last couple weeks since i got out of the hospital.
my audio interview with Cave Dweller Music is up today! listen to me talk about how much i love music, hate capitalism, and what it's like to be queer/trans.
so apologies to anyone who listened to the interview...they basically didn't edit it, and the program they used to record it caused a delay that got worse as things went on. so there are REALLY long pauses and then overlapping speech and it's just...it gets really unbearable toward the end. a little frustrated about it, honestly.
I get it... trying to do promotional things that go haywire is really draining and shitty. It's draining from the start for me, but when it goes wrong, it's the dumbest most annoying thing.
i have a bunch of new music out today!

my covers EP featuring several friends on vocals

and my collaborative project with my friend mac has a new EP out as well!
Just came across your music and I'm equally impressed and overwhelmed! What do you recommend starting out with to get an idea of your discography? Amazing inspiring output btw!
thank you!
if you're interested in something low-key and pretty, go for "there is a hole at the center of everything"
if you're interested in post-punk, go for "reviens a moi..."
if you're interested in metal, go for "the great disruption"
i have a lot of different stuff obviously haha

i got written up by the fucking chicago reader!
i still have their cover with trent on it from 1999 hanging on the wall at my parents' house. this is like a dream come true!!!
I got my cassette in the mail yesterday, it's a real goddamn beauty. Well done, Mae! Fantastic album.
I heard they sold out.![]()
Big ups, M. Wish you'd come back around more often!
oh, hai, everyone!
totally forgot to come here and post this:
https://eversonpoe.bandcamp.com/album/servant
i have a new album up for pre-order that releases on march 3rd. digital and limited edition "black box" cassette.
here are a few words about it:
Everson Poe (Mae Shults) returns with her newest foray into narrative storytelling on Servant. The tale of Medusa as a trans woman that acts as an allegory for Mae's history in abusive and manipulative relationships, which almost led to her death on multiple occasions, Servant is her most emotionally heavy effort to date.
Continuing her fascination with folklore and mythology, Mae has focused on one of the most tragic figures in Greek mythology: Medusa. Born one way and forced to be another by the abuse inflicted upon her, then exiled and isolated until her untimely demise, she seemed the perfect representation of Mae's experiences.
Musically, Servant is a continuation of the signature Everson Poe style—completely ignoring any loyalty to one specific genre, and instead crafting long, intricate pieces of music that flow seamlessly between sonic landscapes.
Everson Poe incorporates the talents of several collaborators on this release to bring voice to Medusa, allowing Mae to scale back the use of her own voice and only utilize it to add emphasis and gravity to specific sections of the music. Co-producer db (Euphoriadic Studios) returns to help shape Mae's sound into something unique, and also contributes vocals to one song and bass/keys to another.
Join Everson Poe as she pleads with the gods of Mount Olympus for release from her servitude, only to find they are just as cruel as any human.
Got a very cool-looking tape in the mail today. The 3d printed case looks amazing and I'll have to post pictures tomorrow because it's dark now.
The posts that were holding the tape broke in transit but I'm not worried about it, 3d printed posts like that are inherently weak. I'll just glue them back together.
Also it was cool to release it for my birthday.
