You're welcome to simply not reply. If you don't like a thread, you don't need to shit in it. Thanks.

Does Weird Al's "Germs" count? More of a pastiche than an outright parody

edit: Also, I make no apologies for this http://remix.nin.com/play/mix?id=11019

I think "Germs" should count though it is a damn good style parody. Way better than a lot of the NIN imitators that came out.

I can't believe that I've actually forgot to post it. Thank goodness for YouTube.

    And here's Germs live.

Does anyone else remember "Terrible Pie" and "Terrible Guy" and "Happiness in Pork and Beans" from waaaaaay back in the day?

I used to be all over the AOL Keyword: NIN groups back in '94-'96 and that shit was hilarious, lol.

The Ye Olde English translations were a shit-ton o' fun, too. "Forsooth, piggeth!" leaps to mind.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who remembers these gems.

I can't express enough how much I love Germs. I actually heard it before I got into NIN and it became my fav Weird Al song (confession, I collected Weird Al music up until high school).

    Also,
@sheepdean I've just now added a spotify tag, but it seems to output something as large, if not taller than a YouTube embed. If it's not doing what you're thinking of, PM me and we'll work out the details.

No doubt, this track is a parody because there's no way it could be this bad if it was trying to be serious

(also, welcome to the spotify tag)

This is probably the latest Nine Inch Nails parody and first parody of Came Back Haunted I've found on YouTube so far. And like most parodies, you'll either love it or hate it. I actually thought that it was okay.

After posting the Weird Al parody, I don't know why the Richard Cheese cover didn't occur to me at the time. I was just reminded of it.

Can't believe I've never heard "Germs" before. So that's like a musical mashup of "Closer," "Terrible Lie," and "Mr. Self Destruct" from what I hear.

    Does this count? XD

I know that SW was supposedly formed before NIN (which means nothing imo, no pun intended), and the music in this song actually kicks ass and I like all their albums as guilty pleasures, with mostly pretty decent music (but those lyrics...), and the singer had a great voice (until he went ultraemo with his new band, that is an abomination), but come on, he tried too hard to be like Reznor, and the whole thing was almost a parody of NIN, they were NIN's Creed (Scott Stapp's band).

^ As much i hate to say it, you're right

...yet i still like them a lot; "Ungod" and "Whiter, Blister, Burn and Peel" were great albums!

There were clearly several parodies that I've missed, and several new ones that just popped up this year.

I remember one parody of "Closer". There were some "doggy sounds" ("I want to woof-woof like an animal") and the vocal was really cool. Unfortunately I do not remember the exact title and I cannot find it anywhere. :-(

I didn't hear any doggy sounds from this one, but it has the word dog in it.

I'll also make sure to post it, if I ever find the actual parody with the "woof-woof" sounds. And here's a throwback video from the old ETS.

Not a parody but it's so bad (and funny) I consider it one, ignore the American Idol clips thrown in.

I can't seem to find the one without the American Idol clips anymore. Anyway, it also reminded me of this.
