June 16th 2001, Float Rite Park Amphitheatre

This was the first festival I went to (Ozzfest 2001), and the first time I had gone out of town on my own after turning 18 (I did have my girlfriend with me at the time. Since Marilyn Manson wasnt performing at this date, this was the band I was most excited to see by far, freaking MuDvAyNe! This was my 2nd time seeing them, and I remember the original 2nd stage headliners had dropped off or gotten kicked off or something, and the 'Vayne go promoted to the headlining slot. So fuckin' hyped, I thought these guys would turn into the next Tool. Oh well Anyways, They fuckin shredded this stage, total face melting, and one of the best and most intense mosh pits ive ever been in...


Also, i was pretty excited to see the 'knot too, this being my 3rd time seeing them. Having seen them open for Coal Chamber (i told this story elsewhere on ETS at some point) and play by them selfs with Mudvayne at the Expo Building at the fair grounds in Sioux Falls. Anyways, good memories here. This was the first time I had got to hear tracks from Iowa live (still IMO their best record). Anyawys......

Just got back from NYC to see Swans play their (maybe?) last show. It was possibly the best show I ever saw. 4th time seeing Gira and friends. Worth every penny.

They played a down tempo/remix version of this song which was cool. I've seen TKK a couple of times now and its never a dull show. Groovy Man was super cool and hung out with us after the show to take some pictures and sign some stuff.

missing Mogwai tonight. not feeling so well & would be stupid move to go. bummed but trying to be smart for a change. luckily found someone looking for tickets on craigslist. got my money back. bought the tickets last march before i knew chemo schedule. 1 of the reasons i hate buying tickets months in advance. much prefer it to be like the NIN show in vegas. 3 weeks & show! cost a bit more for airfare but not much. was definitely concert of the year for me. followed closely by midnight oil & flaming lips.

Saw Black Rebel Motorcycle Club in Hamburg and Berlin over the weekend whilst visiting friends and damn, I had a blast! Truly one of the best contemporary rock bands out there right now. Glad that they keep getting better and better since first discovering them in 2001. Today's a show in Munich and my agency got me meet & greet tickets so that's a proper finale for me.
