2013.04.29 - New York, NY @ The Apollo Theater

The final leg of the US tour for HTDA.

A living monument to the Harlem Renaissance, the Apollo boasts a Belle-Époque crimson décor, spacious public areas, office support facilities, and state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment in its two theaters – the 1500-seat Mainstage and the intimate 150-seat Soundstage.

This is the only show I can likely make. Terribly excited for the chance to visit Harlem. Anyone have experiences with The Apollo beyond what I've seen on tv?

Yea, its gonna be fun. Heading south a bit towards Columbia University and Amsterdam Avenue are some really nice parks and places to walk around.

The main strip isn't really a bad area its better than most areas in the Bronx, I saw a comedy show there a few months ago, its a lot smaller than I thought it'd be (which is a good thing of course)

The show's listed on Ticketmaster now. Was considering going but $60 is too much for me, especially with the price of MetroNorth tickets going up yet again soon.

Just checked out the ticketmaster link one more time. Bought two tickets. Not the best seats in the house, but I'll be there.

Me too. I tried earlier and couldn't get anything but I was able to get lower mezzanine seats now. Not great but not terrible either

I got very suspicious mails from modlife, about presales, two very different mails the same day, monday 25/03, they answered me about unbelivable claims they lost names for 6 presale people and wanted my order number so i could claim my ticket at venue. Of course i said "no, what the hell are you talking about (my fucking name is registered on my account, on your site)". Strangely a second mail came the same day:

HTDA Pre-Sale Ticket Pick Up Policy

    How To Destroy Angels <noreply@modlife.com>

Dear HTDA Pre-Sale Ticket Buyer,Thank you for your pre-sale ticket purchase for How To Destroy Angels at The Apollo Theater on April 29 in NYC.
As an HTDA pre-sale reserved seating ticket buyer, you can now view your exact seat locations by logging in and checking your ORDER INFORMATION - your seat locations are listed below the show name under "Products."
IMPORTANT - Per state law, your tickets will be mailed to the delivery address indicated on your account (will call ticket pick up is not an option for this show). If you have a delivery address update, please email that information as soon as possible to htda@modlife.com. The mailing of tickets will take place closer to the show date and will be accompanied by an email notice.
Thanks again and enjoy the show.

I spent an incredible amount of money on this show, and i'm not very happy to receive such uneblievable requests !

I bought my NYC ticket at ticketmaster.com and I'll receive my ticket at the venue (will call)
My ticket for the Montclair gig, I bought via Modlife. This ticket I also need to pick up at the venue (will call).
So, I don't understand this strategy as mentioned above!

People. Go to Ticketmaster. There are now more Orchestra tickets. GOOD ONES!

Edit: And FWIW, it looks like Ticketmaster will refund your original purchases.

"All tickets for events at participating venues are fully refundable for 72 hours after purchase, or when you buy tickets from us of equal or higher price, up until one week before the event." Call them and confirm first, if you want. 800-653-8000

Just tried. They said normally it would be fine but since I got them through the fanclub presale (the one that went live as soon as the modlife ones sold out), they can't cancel them.

I'm in the same situation. I'll likely either sell them or find someone who I want to expose to HTDA.

That's bizarre, since they were purchased directly from Ticketmaster, right??

Edit2: I mean, that's EVERYONE (except for *very* few people) since the show pretty much sold out in the Ticketmaster "presale." That makes no sense.

Edit: These are the exceptions they list. I don't think any apply. Might be worth calling back and pressing the issue.
"Exceptions include VIP, Platinum and other premium tickets, tickets purchased through auction or resale, tickets purchased with additional related items or bundled products, tickets subsequently offered at a discount, and tickets for participating teams' away games."

She told me she couldn't do it because the tickets purchased through the fan sale were a specific amount allotted specifically for the presale. Very stupid reasoning but whatever. I'm in the lower mezz so it's not terrible.

    Specific amount=entire theater

    yeahhhhhhhhh

(It sold out in the "fan presale" before the regular onsale date. These tickets available now have all been "released" after the show originally sold out)
