i'm looking forward to hearing new material this year
really hoping that Trent does more sound design this time around (like how he did on The Fragile and his earlier music)
I hope there is something on the way. Personally I hope it doesn't end up being too digital like HTDA. I know he'll never win a 'guitarist-of-the-year' type award, but I'd like to see Trent incorporate some more guitar in his music. Not necessarily in the same vein as The Slip, maybe something a little more melodic. I've always thought he should crack out the acoustic again, the closing section of Metal is one of my favorite moments of Trent's career. Even something like AATCHB, which is one of the more guitar-heavy NIN songs.
Agreed re: both Metal and AATCHB. Especially the latter; I think it's some of the more intricate guitar work that Trent has done.
Some of that is Danny Lohner. The songs he co-wrote during The Fragile era have some very interesting guitar orchestrations.
I can't decide if I want to write a biography of NIN, make a documentary, or do a scholarly treatise on each song à la Pushing Ahead of the Dame.

Really enjoying what Rob's doing with the NIN tumblr - just wish (and this is my fault I guess) that I hadn't already seen it all!
I don't remember seeing Ally's birthday & that awesome soundboard version of "Capital G" before.
Whoever did this made my day. Thanks.
Sorry if posted before...
Wait. WHAT.
WHAT IS.
That's not shop'd is it?
I need to go to bed, but I can't stop staring at that.
So I'm guessing the tour will put the final nail in the coffin for the possibility of the Wave Goodbye shows being released? It wouldn't make a lot of sense to sell a commemoration of a "retirement" tour while you're out on tour after all.
I don't see why they wouldn't release it sometime. After all, the vids were called "Live at the Henry Fonda", not "final showz evar bye lol".
I was really hoping that with a new page in the Random NIN Thoughts thread, I would be able to look at what's new in the thread without being treated to an IMPACT FONT meme photo :b
The nin.com tour page is a mess. They need to pick a date format and stick with it. Also, I don't see the U.S. fall arena dates on that page, so they need to add those
SOUND CITY at Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF 2013) June 7: http://nin.ro/2013/05/29/sound-city-la-tiff-2013/
The tickets are 2.29 euros!
I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the tour page but nin.com is going to migrate soon.
Also: you guys know what? With all the shit that's being written about Adrian Belew (whom, may I remind everyone, is a legendary musician), I was half expecting that dude teitan to make a comeback. He knew all about the art of trolling.
Since the new album thread got locked, I guess I'll put this here to further add to any "is Adrian touring?!" rumors:
More craziness!
I had a flash of The Day The World Went Away and the terrible new sound of 30 Seconds to Mars and imaged the new NIN album with crowds chanting everywhere.
apologies for bringin up THE SLIP in the now locked topic, it kinda snowballed unreasonably. i have no problem with that record though. yeah, kinda upbeat. i heard Fragile before, i heard Head like a hole. And you know, once i start i cannot stop myself. I need your discipline, i need your help. ooh-oooh-ooh
This is entirely speculation: does anyone else think the long delay of The Fragile deluxe re issue is due to Columbia Records trying to get the rights to the songs to release the reissue under Columbia?
I've wondered about this as well. I'm sure Trent is "playing ball" in some way by A. signing HTDA/NIN to Columbia and/or B. Getting back into bed with Jimmy Iovine(Interscope) for this new streaming service, etc.. The rights to the Fragile(and other goodies) have to fall into play somewhere in all of that... Surely.
