The Yeah Yeah Yeah's - New album news

    Info from http://www.factmag.com/

Let’s get it out the way now: yes, that’s the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ new album cover, and yes, it’s horrible.
Now, the details: the New York band will release their new album, Mosquito, on April 15. The band’s fourth album in total, it was produced by long-term collaborator Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio, Telepathe) and Nick Launay – with the exception of one track, which was produced by James Murphy and features Kool Keith under his Dr. Octagon guise [via NME].

Saw that cover this morning and it gave me a chuckle...as for the album. Hell yes, bring it on!

    Hell yes indeed!
This quote has got me interested.....

Speaking exclusively to NME about the album in this week's magazine, singer Karen O said "Well…it’s definitely different from the last album. So I guess you could say that hasn’t changed about us! It’s all over the place. The sound of the record is, I guess, a bit more lo-fi sounding and slightly more influenced by roots reggae. There's a lot of delay on stuff and there’s a more raw sound to it than there was last time."

That cover is amazingly bad. But in a good way. It's a fuckin' modern Garbage Pail Kid card or something.

The music in the teaser sounds like some of their earlier work, especially the Fever To Tell sessions. It's probably the vocal effects more than anything else.
Not sure how I feel about that... FTT hasn't aged well to my ear, I've grown to prefer the more poppy orientation they adopted with It's Blitz.

And yeah, that cover art is hilariously vile. Massively looking forward to the album though, and glad we don't have long to wait.

The pre order link does not work for me.......

EDIT nevermind. I was very close on hitting order for the deluxe signed lithograph but I'm scared I will get the cover art signed, and that shit is UGLY. I would never put that on my wall. I also don't know the drawl for someone to get something signed without meeting the person.

BUT yes I am excited for this release = )

Also check out what else the artist who did the cover art has done.

    Trippy man......

I like it! I really hope they do a show in Atlanta. They haven't been there since 2006.

That's what I was thinking! Look at the font they used for their name...totally Garbage Pail Kid influence. I love it.

Yeah there's no way I'm letting my first impression of the album be 128kbps.

This album sounds nothing like the way they initially described it as sounding (lo-fi and Fever To Tell-ish) but it still sounds really good. Very chill and electronic. I dig it.

I was wondering what you cats thought of the new tunes.. I've only listened all the way through once, so I can't say other than it's sounds as I expected it to. Nothing to radically different, but that's not a bad thing really. I was shocked to see not only that Kool keith was on a track, but as DOCTOR OCTAGON. Crazy shit right there. I thought Doc Oct was dead? (Dr Dooom killed him)

just done on my first listen, I'm hoping this is gonna grow on me a bit. I like it, but it's nowhere near as immediate as I was expecting.
    Wedding Song is beautiful
