I bet it's the official release date. They might be delaying the single until they get all of the digital rights stuff finalized for Apple Music, Spotify, etc.

I hope you're right. Also, that single (assuming there is one) has got to be right around the corner (end of the month? hopefully at least by mid-July). If the rumor about every track exceeding 10 minutes is true, I expect that we'll get a shortened version for radio in the same vein as Stinkfist and Lateralus.
I'm fairly certain Maynard confirmed on Twitter that 8/30 was the release date.
Descending has now been done 71 times live:

And CCTrip 11, Invincible 17.
Will be interesting to compare the final studio version of Descending to when it first debuted live.
This is a damn good quality of Descending...I'll have to check on Invincible. Great shot of the show as well.

How funny would it be if August 30th came and went and nothing happens. No single, no album, no news.
*deep yawn* Give us a damn single already.
I’m hoping the next Tool newsletter (which might come out this weekend since it’s the end of the month) will finally have the announcement we’ve all been waiting for. Album title, cover art, track listing, pre-order options, and maybe even a new single, a music video, and the back catalog on streaming platforms. But I guess if they were smart, they’d space that shit out to stay in the news and keep the hype train rollin’.

I’m guessing mid July. The biggest summer holiday is a week away, and big band news doesn’t really seem to come out before, on, or after holidays that I can remember.
lol@getting anything newsworthy in the newsletter.
All this promotion for the new album is making my head spin.
*crickets*
Surely they have to be announcing a mini-tour for album release pretty soon (Lateralus and 10K Days both had them, anyway), not to mention a full tour later on for Fall/Winter 2019/2020.
Also, my last.fm mix stream just played The Grudge. I have no idea where they get their material sourced from but I assume it's official and licensed?
Just give me SOMETHING...anything. I need my faith in this restored lol.
There was a time when our dear leader Trent announced many things that never happened. Some of those even came with a "pre-order notification" sign up.
I'm sure it will happen but the conspiracy theorist in me is so worried that August 30 is just a single or music video and that the two new songs were just for the tour. Shutting up now. I need to learn to trust people more.

I've seen some post or something and Maynard... sort of... clarified that August 30th IS the album. So... we will see...
Fucking hilarious. He had a lot to say, he had a lot of nothing to say.
The guy has a point. Why wouldn't he use the name Jesus for his bands?
you guys think they'll drop any more tour dates this year? I really don't want to go to Aftershock but I might have to...
Now that we have a release date, we are still forever asking questions "when will they...". A new tour? Release info on the single? Be on Spotify?
With fan speculations. Again. Forever.
OH dear god, I don't know where to start with this. I could go on, and on, and on.
But I'll keep this brief.
You know who else got a lot of people drunk? JESUS: water into wine and such, at the wedding. Furthermore, COMMUNION involves wine. Biblical Jesus literally commanded us to drink wine.
You know who else felt abandoned by Yaweh, according to biblical canon?
JESUS, on the cross, when he said "my god, why have you forsaken me?"
Furthermore, "let he who is without sin cast the first stone." This cunt apparently hasn't looked at a woman in a lustful manner- I guess he's all set, then.
people like this are what makes me scared to tell people that i'm involved with christianity.
Oh, and it would also be a good idea to learn how to pronounce words you're gonna say, if you're speaking in front of people. cuMerce and Hermus and Maynard keen, who REALLY fucked up by choosing a career that would make him MONEY, while, most self respecting people work for free.
Let's take a moment to breathe and laugh.
Schism with a 4/4 drum is just too funny! (regardless if it pokes at Lars)
