Even if there is a problem with the original tape master, fine, pull the original 16 bit digital transfer for Redbook and reissue the damn thing for all services. If the original tape is boinked, I have no problem for an official Redbook master to vinyl. It is what it is and it's flawless as is...

I see no staples in this list as it as. All of these songs coming in and going out depending on the year.
At this point, Tool live staples are Stinkfist, 46+2, Aenema, Schism, Vicarious and Jambi. Everything rotates, just not fast because they don't tour as much in last 10 years or so.

I feel like it’s a crowd thing. Like, let the crowd sing that part. “Admit it” as it were.

That's including Tool clinic shows, where they played instrumentals without MJK.

I think there might be licensing issues with some of the tracks on Salival (clearing the audio samples, song publishing rights, etc.) so I don't expect it to land in the same category as the studio albums. But a vinyl release of some kind, even it were just limited to just the Salival recordings of "Pushit" & "Merkaba", would be so dope. Definitely could see that being a bonus disc, in amongst a box set of all the albums, when they're eventually reissued on vinyl.

Touché... I'm surprised I typed a coherent paragraph at the time. But yes, I was referring to Pushit specifically though the entirety of Salival is marvelous.

With just a few quick word replacements this could also apply to the Manson thread V5.0 or whatever the fuck we're on now.

With the exception of The Pot, I think you're right on the money. Vicarious is likely gone (they already skipped it when I saw them at Chicago Open Air, though it was a festival), which is kind of a shame because it's great live (especially when he sings the "Vicariously, I" part that @sinspots mentioned). I can see Part of Me being the lone representaion for Opiate this time around (though I'd welcome more with open arms). With all of these new song being so long, I feel like they'll skip Third Eye, too, because if there's too many songs of that nature, they'll end up having a 7-song setlist, which, of course, people WILL BITCH ABOUT—frequently and at length. As for Rosetta Stoned, I really hope they keep it because it's a personal favorite, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it dropped. I wonder if they'll play longer sets this tour because 4 of their new songs probably adds up to an hour of stage time. My one complaint about seeing them live is that they could play a little longer. In my experience, they usually play 10-12 songs.

I can see them alternating some songs. Third Eye on a few shows and whatever else. They've done it before where there might be a couple spots on the setlist that's changeable.

I’m wondering if we’re even going to see a tour this year, outside of maybe some dates around Aftershock, much less what a setlist might look like.

Im guessing they’ll keep Stinkfist, 46 & 2, and Aenima despite the same album. They’re great live and the crowd loves it. Would be surprised if any of the longer songs (ie Third Eye) sticks around for reasons already mentioned.

I've never experienced confetti with this song at a Tool show, but, maybe i was just lucky, heh. We did have bigass masses of black balloons during the Lateralus tour.

Someone needs to splice together how many times Danny says “dude” and “man” in this podcast, LOL. Very interesting, especially the Jeff Buckley stuff.

Very informative interview. Yes, Danny is usually cordial in disposition, but he seems clearly a little looser and relaxed in demeanor here. Ice cubes swimming around against the glass -- some boozin' at the loft on presumably something good. I'm not familiar with Joe Wong but regardless of creds he is lucky as fuck for this kind of access. At any rate, I was familar with Danny's early session work with noteable artists and the rockabilly stuff with Jeff Buckley but I had no idea he was in an even earlier LA band that opened for Fishbone.

Edit: I thought it was hilarious hearing Danny's frustration in no longer getting to see one of his idols perform. That being Bill Bruford. He fanboys out hard, praises him deeply and then calls him a cunt for 100% retiring from playing. That bit about Bill not even having a kit in his home. *Sigh* It seems we're all fans of those who've broken our hearts.

But what if they leak a copy of the physical version, not digital (I would assume the digital download code wouldn't be active until 8/30). It won't really be a complete copy. Listen anyway? Ugggg, decisions decisions (I'm weak so will likely listen).
