I've heard "progressive" metal bands that sound just like that.

In response to learning that Justin Bieber is a Tool fan.
Edit: typed his initials wrong somehow...

Guys we have a Code Yellow.
The 72826 is available for sale on iTunes and Google Play.

The 72826 EP is the first studio album / demo tape the band made and sold at performances before being signed to a record label. The tracks on it are all studio recordings. The versions of "Hush" and "Part of Me" were re-recorded again in studio for the Opiate EP along with the unreleased "Sweat" and the title track, "Opiate". "Cold & Ugly" and "Jerk-Off" are live recordings on Opiate. "Crawl Away" and "Sober" would later be re-recorded for the Undertow LP.
Mmm, that's a bit of a stretch. They are 4-track cassette recordings, not from professional recording studios. Still, it's cool the band (?) has made them officially available again after all this time! And there don't seem to be massive copyright claim blitzes yet on the existing versions fans have uploaded from circulating cassette copies on YouTube...
EDIT: Looks like we jumped the gun and this was not a legit release.

That’s interesting. Hopefully indicative that they’re slowly releasing all their stuff to streaming sites starting with the very earliest release.
Speaking of Jerk-Off, does anyone know what Maynard tends to actually sing in most live performances of it near the end?
Shoot it
Kick it
Fuck it
Shoot you in your fucking head
^ The shoot it/kick it/fuck it part has different words and it tends to end in “fuck you in your fuckin ass” or some other alteration.
If they released an album each Friday, the sixth one would fall on August 30.

Correct.. Garage, loft, living room, personal practice space, or studio, sure. Never intended to mean professional with an engineer. Really don't know of any official information on that available online or liner notes. Could have been one of the band members themselves such as Danny who already had session studio experience, could have been a friend in the industry. The point being that those tracks are not from any live performances from a show but demo recordings on some type of taping machine / mixing board, be it 4-track in this case that ended up on the 72826 cassete.
Anybody down load it yet? How does it sound compared to the version that's been online?
I just get a message saying it's not available in the US store when I click that Apple Music link.
Is the "s" missing from Volcano Records a typo?
Record is missing an “s”. CODE BROWN!!!
Miley and Beiber are the same dude.

Read online...made me chuckle probably more than it should've.
"Plot twist: The album's called August 30th and drops next May."
Is 72826 only available in certain countries? I’m still not seeing it an Apple Music it’s been claimed. I do see it on Google Play.
It’s definitely available in the US. I purchased it through the iTunes app on my iPhone but, curiously, I can’t find it in the Apple Music library. It’s possible they might go the Led Zeppelin route and eschew streaming for now. Or it might just not be set up.

It's still up on Google Play in the US; $5.94 for the EP or 99¢ a track. Curiously enough, searching for 72826 on Apple Music brings up - among a few other unrelated things - the main TOOL bio. I don't see it for sale on iTunes or Amazon currently.
