Oh man, I was pretty hyped for a new record, but may excitement has worn off big time... I suppose it comes down to them not needing to prove anything, but I wonder if that record, once it comes out, could sell better with a little bit more momentum.
I get that there's expectation of a single/video/title/whatever, and I still think that's probably coming in the next few weeks, but keep in mind we're in a dark age of marketing right now. More people watched PewDiePie build a giant meatball in Minecraft this week than will buy the new Tool album, regardless of how much marketing it has behind it. The old model of releasing an album with singles and videos leading up to it is still fine, but it's not necessarily more effective than Tool launching an Instagram account or - the big one - finally making their work available to stream.
I just think we need to relax a bit when it comes to the expectation that an album release date inevitably means a certain list of things will happen a certain number of weeks before its release. If anything, it helps retain some of the mystery about the thing. I was kind of bummed that by the time Eat The Elephant was released, more than half the album was already out there in some form. I'll be excited going into Poulnabrone Dolmen (or whatever it's called) without having had a ton of exposure to it beforehand.
It's like some of you guys just don't want it come out at all just so you can continue with this circlejerk forever
I hope the new album release plays out like this.
Everyone is so on edge with so little information beyond a release date. Even a logo / graphics change sends fans into a wild frenzy.
Yeah uhh...you could tell in my post that I’m in a complete uhh.... frenzy?
I think @pulse means the twitter replies.
Ahhh fair enough lol. Do what I’ve learned to do...never bother with the replies! lol
Funnily enough I was just in the kitchen with Black Aria by Danzig playing on my phone (youtube), then Invincible randomly came on as the next track, and I started thinking about how tribal and ancient the song feels. Then ten seconds later I see your post with the new logo @october_midnight , haha
Perhaps more info this week hopefully! I just want the vinyl haha.
Looks like it’ll have real pretty artwork if the logo is anything to go by.

The Kalamazoo's got the "sticking my, shoving my, shooting my thumb up your fucking ass" lyrics too.
That's a pretty awesome version.
“PooP”* is the upside down logo

I assumed he was quoting Casablanca. But, to be honest, the way he drew out the maybes, my mind went to Ren and Stimpy with the way Ren says "Maaaaybe something good... Maaaaby something bad" in Space Madness.
I actually liked the fake one better, this logo does match the golden rule though.
