When journalists in particular rely on social media embeds to convey and/or preserve information within an article. I know that the fault probably lies with the style guide of the parent publication, but man, how long till every single Instagram frame breaks and loses half the content of your article? How long till someone back-edits their Facebook post to sell ad space?? At least add a text description of what the post was supposed to convey!

As it is, a combo of not having an Instagram account + viewing pages through a VPN in a GDPR-compliant country makes this shit impossible to read in 2021. (To a lesser extent, I dislike this habit on forums as well :P )

Reminds me of something that happened recently where an old content hosting platform called Vidme was purchased and used for porn, so any site that used it's embed features in their articles ended up with porn in place of whatever it used to be.

I fucking love Texas. I identify as a Texan first, and a US citizen second. My family has been here since the 1840s, at least, and I mean RIGHT up here in the area where I currently live.
We've had a problem with uneven representation in this state. Texas was a reliably left wing state until.the eighties. We had a left wing governor in the nineties.
But, through gerrymandering and voter supression, we've been experiencing a Republican supermajority for a LONG time.
Now, we're being held up as some paragon of idiocy and assholery and pride in being backward.
But that's not US. If you look at the voting results for our senate races and presidential voting, you'll see that it's STILL close to 50/50, and that's WITH the suppression.
Austin TX is the single.most progressive spot I've ever visited. Dallas, Houston, San Antonio etc, always vote for Democratic candidates, and they're fucking AMAZING places.
The DFW metroplex city where I lived when I was a kid? White people are the minority there.
Texas is my heart. It's my ancestral home, and I've rarely ever left. I DAMN sure haven't LIVED anywhere else.
I'm disgusted by some of the actions our government is taking, and has taken, especially in the wake of Donald Trump. I'm disgusted by the influx of out of state right wing assholes moving here.

I'd like to apologize on behalf of the state of Texas, as a 6th generation Texan, and also, make it clear that WE AREN'T ALL DUMB ASSHOLES. We really, really aren't.

I'm disgusted by the government of my homeland.

I wouldn't say i'm pissed off but i had a random comment on one of my original character drawings asking "what do you do with your life?" that felt kinda like it was baiting me into a twitter spat. So i looked at their profile and...yep, all they did was comment on peoples drawings trying to start arguments "you should go outside" and stuff like that...but NOBODY had reacted to any of them, no replies or likes, or even any followers. Just talking to themselves trying to anger artists for...some reason. Working on my background paperwork for this new position. It's been 13 years since I had to do one so it's got some information saved from that one but also doesn't. and it keeps saying "click save and continue" and every time I do it yells at me because there is information missing but the information is on the page I'm going to, not the one I was on, so it's pre-yelling at me?

There are 29 sections and I'm on 15 right now and I want to tear my hair out. "What are your mother's alias's?" I don't know what her previous husband's name was, sorry I never had that particularly difficult conversation with her.

Though I did have a very dark laugh at the security question: "Where were you when you first heard about 9/11?" like holy shitballs guys.

FedEx's delivery service in my area is absolute dog shit. I've had a package that has said that it was out for delivery every day since Wednesday. I contact their customer service and every time I do they assure me it will come today, and it never does. This happens with most FedEx deliveries around here. The neighbors all complain too. It's so fucking infuriating. Neither UPS or the post office have this issue here. It's at the point where when a website has a place on the order page to add a message, I'll usually request they not ship via FedEx, but of course I forgot to do that this time. I really hope my package arrives in one piece one of these days. It's two sizeable custom frames, which aren't cheap.

EDIT: Now the tracking says it'll come on fucking Tuesday? WTF. So fucking sick of FedEx's bullshit.

EDIT 2: Amazingly the package finally came today. Definitely going to make sure to remember to add a "please don't ship via FedEx" comment on all my online orders going forward now.

A couple of weeks ago, I thought for like, three fucking minutes, that there was an audio version of The Dark Tower comics coming out, like they're doing with Sandman.

It said it was Official. It had great sounding audio, and used artwork from the graphic novels, that we haven't seen.

My wife and i, who literally refer to our marriage as An-Tet...we don't need that sort of thing in our lives if it's a fucking LIE.

We were SO HAPPY, until they fucked up and used a picture from Wizard and Glass. She still wanted to believe it.

Amazon delivery driver filed a fraudulent police report claiming all sorts of bullshit, which resulted in me facing multiple felony charges. Twelve thousand dollars later, and after far too much stress which contributed to a recent heart surgery, it looks like I might be off the hook legally. But I am still mighty pissed. This asshole cost me not only a large amount of cash, but had a serious impact on my health due to stress.

Lost my dear old friend Kyle "Kaiser" Wilhelm today, in what was a (quite possibly drunk) car accident.

He pretty much lived with my family from 1994 to 2002 or so. He spent every Thanksgiving and Christmas with us, and went on all the family trips. He became close with my cousins and Aunt. We stayed super close once he got his own place. He was really, truly like an immediate family member, UNTIL partway through Obama's first term.

That's when he realized that we didn't see eye to eye on politics and stopped keeping up with us so much (also, none of us live in Dallas now.) He's been closer to my Republican cousins than me over the past several years. I didn't know they MADE Republican ravers/MDMA dealers. Only in Texas.

It breaks my heart because we TRULY, truly were brothers in our formative years.

He actually fucking blocked me on Facebook once the Trump shit started, so we haven't talked in like five years.

Be careful ghosting people you love over politics.

Also, I decided to start keeping track of people I love or loved who didn't see 45, and that's number 19.

I don't know the answer to your actual question, but I'd be real careful about having someone like that ship a guitar. It's VERY easy for a guitar to get damaged in shipping if not properly secured and packed.

yeah, I echo that statement and say you should use the $1500 to buy a ticket to GA, kick their ass, and bring the guitar back with you.

They will label that as theft in most places. Could even add attempted sale of stolen goods and indeed some light extortion to that, if they're particularly being an asshole that isn't careful with their choice of words. Do you think it's worth it to them to potentially have to duke it out in court? If you can get on record that they threaten to sell or destroy the guitar, you definitely have a case against them for extortion. Don't explicitly offer opportunities to reconsider when they do. Immediately state the legal repercussions their exclamations may have, if you decide to take action. Reconsideration is implied and will be fueled by some fear and desperation, unless they're pretty wealthy.

Is it too late to get insurance on the guitar? Where I live perps end up in debt (w/ interest) with the victims' insurance company if they are legally held accountable for the damaging or destruction of insured property.
