Can't wait to see that black/gold splatter up on ebay for $450.

    Fuckers.

Is that the most attractive variant, do you think? I went for the glow one.

I like the way it reflected the inner art. Also, don't know why, but literally EVERY glow-in-the-dark record I have EVER picked up, new, used, mint, has sounded like shit.

No coincidence - it's a known problem with glow in the dark vinyl, similar to picture discs.

Do we have confirmation this is remastered?

Seeing reports on some groups that Bonati had his hands on this one, but Dais doesn't say a god damn thing about it.

Big change from how they plastered REMASTERED everywhere for Musick 1. Not a good sign.

I bought the clear vinyl. I have an original copy of the numbered pearl vinyl, so I mainly just bought it to go with the clear copy of Vol 1 I bought.

I compared "Ether" from the Bandcamp page with a rip of "Ether" from the original CD (converted to 128 CBR MP3). First is the CD, second is Bandcamp:

    I appreciate that Jon.

There are definitely some visible differences, but do you think those could be caused just by the encoder you used being different than the one BC uses? I don't think they publish which exact one they run.

As there seems to be almost zero difference the closer you get to the floor, I'd say definitely.

You know what, I hadn't even considered that. I don't have any glow vinyl already, and when I saw pre-orders had opened, I just went for the most-limited one as fast I could. Now I'm wondering what to do about it ;-) The Boomcat clear/black/purple one is also pretty interesting, and would cost me 32% less.

Does anyone remember (or have written down or screenshotted) what the colour variants were for the 1st pressing of MTPITD (v1) back in 2020? I noted down the choices for the second pressing in a comment in this thread, but I've forgotten about the 1st. Especially whichever was the most limited/exclusive variant at the time. Ta!

Edit; I think it was White-In Clear "Moon" Vinyl 2xLP | 200 edition
And it looks like the going rate for that edition isn’t really any different from any others
Which I think is good news, no artificial scarcity market

Cheers @Jon . Excellent work as usual

I've ordered the Boomkat version now. I'm 99% sure I'll cancel my dais pre-order. I want one I can play after all.

Oh, and it looks like I called this back in 08-21-2020, albeit for the wrong re-issue!

    Thanks for sharing!

I have utter fatigue with the IF reissues.

Not to leave you all hanging, I finally got around to cancelling my glow in the dark pre order. I’m settling on the boomkat exclusive variant which hopefully will sound good (although I notice in the old pages @eversonpoe ’s copy of MTPITD1, with the offset moon, had sound issues. Argh)

    Happy new year!

Dais are now saying that Josh Bonati mastered this too on the product page. But going by Jon’s analysis it doesn’t look like much was done, unless Bonati only worked on the vinyl master. I guess we’ll know for sure when they ship.

Thanks for posting about this change. Glad to have clarity.

I don't mind a minimalist approach to mastering. The Musicks didn't need any work in the first place. It was the lack of information that annoyed me.

I must say, I'm really impressed with the shirt quality from Dais. I went ahead and preordered the "Fractal Eclipse" and "Ether" shirts for Part 2.

Perhaps it's just the picture, but how prevalent are the blue and purple bands on the (label) fractal? I'm seeing green, so I think it's just compression smudging out color delineation.

“Constant shallowness leads to evil” reissue https://www.thighpaulsandra.co.uk/st...s_to_Evil.html

TPS has beaten dais to announcing it and the variants TPS are selling are nearly all gone already

I guess being on vinyl it can’t be all in one channel like the CD-r was, at least!

You mean it was mono? Never heard of this before. My rip is certainly in stereo. Was it later fixed with a second press?
