I'm a huge fan of Genndy's. Most recently, he directed Hotel Transylvania (which makes me want to actually see it), but he's probably most well known for creating the amazing Samurai Jack for Cartoon Network. He's also done stellar work on the 2D animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls and 2 Stupid Dogs.
A Samurai Jack movie is still a possibility according to a recent AMA, and Genndy has a story for it... but as one could imagine, it's no small task getting a highly action-oriented 2D animated feature greenlit in 2012.
In more recent news, the short-lived but brilliant
(which I rank among Genndy's best work) is going to begin re-airing on Adult Swim as of this Saturday. I'm looking forward to re-watching the series, but I'm praying the show somehow regains some steam and gets a second chance, 'cause it sure as hell deserves one. There were 10 additional episodes written that never made it to air (which Genndy says were better than the first 20), so it's clear the show was axed prematurely. At the very least, I hope this leads to an official DVD release of the series.
I have too many favorite Jack episodes to list (though "Jack & The Spartans" stands out), and it's been too long since I've watched Dexter's Lab, but "Tashy 497" from Titan is probably when I got hooked on that particular program... and anything from his Clone Wars gives me serious nerd-wood.
