Dave Gahan: I have written 6-7 songs, Martin 13 or 14. Second session soon? 12/05/2012

    More from a Norwegian article:

"I have written 6-7 songs, Martin 13 or 14, and we'll see which ones we're going to include on the album. I think 3 or 4 of my songs will be recorded. The album seems to have a strong blues feeling. Not exactly like "Violator" and "Songs Of Faith And Devotion", but definitely more direct. We'll be careful not to overproduce this time. Extra sounds aren't necessary. If the melodies are good, they do not need more. "Sounds Of The Universe" was a little overproduced, too smooth, too much was going on."

My favorite track so far -

You made that mistake now, they were coming for you. You've gone too far, too far too soon. Now you feel nothing. Life can be cruel.

Sounds great! Going to pick this up first thing on the morning. I thought Dave only did one track for the Soulsavers's new record (haven't really paid any attention to recent DM news), so this is great news for me.

This album(TLTDS) is just as good as a new Depeche Mode album for me.

I ripped the audio from the soundcloud page a week ago, i'll just assume those are the same? Disappointing that they were excluded from the 'exclusive' only remixes a while back.

Speaking of 'exclusive' remixes.. my quest to find every conceivable official remix of every DM song ever is becoming a nightmare..

In the words of some dude in 'Return Of The Jedi'.."There's too many of them!''

I just made the connection with sea shell. If it wasn't for him taking the sea shell back to the ocean he would have never met his wife. He took the shell back home and there he met his wife and now he is taking his wife's ashes back home where they first met. WOW. Very Nice!

It's Dave Gahan-related. Dave is the leader singer of Depeche Mode. Where else am I going to post about it, up my ass hole?

what are you guys, the message board police? seems like this thread in particular is under constant scrutiny for discussion, which is getting really fucking annoying. not for nothing, but isn't a messageboard meant for all relevant discussion on the topic? if you want up-to-date news on DM, go to a DM messageboard or visit their official site. otherwise, i think any discussion on DM here, including stuff relating to past and present members, side projects, composition of sound, etc., is completely acceptable.

Ryan's post was a lot more relevant than "I can't wait for a new album and tour". Just sayin'.

No need to add fire to fire.

OK let's write something relevant, erm...

I've just obtained a 5.1 surround system for the first time, ever. Which is the best DM album 5.1 mix?

If you're following Depeche Mode on Facebook, you probably gasped aloud when you saw this…

…an intriguing still from the "Policy Of Truth" video with the lyrics "Never again / is what you swore" added in ominous ambiguity. Rightly so, fans are foaming at the mouth, wondering if in fact former Depeche Mode sonic architect Alan Wilder will be returning to the fold in conjunction with the group's new studio album, due out sometime next year.
So, is it true? Is Alan Wilder really rejoining Depeche Mode? The answer: we don't know… yet. But probably… and here's why:
As SPIN points out, Wilder, whose keen recording studio know-how and prodigious ear for dense, sonically adventurous arrangements brought the English synth group to a creative and commercial apex in the mid to late '80s, recently performed with the band at a charity concert at London's Royal Albert Hall in 2010. He also contributed to last year's Remixes 2: 81-11 and has repeatedly been spotting around and about London drinking espresso and laughing heartily with Martin Gore and Dave Gahan. Okay, so I made that last part up… but the point is, there's no ill will between all involved parties. Hell, Martin and Vince Clarke have been working together—why not bring Alan back on board? It certainly didn't hurt Black Celebration or Violator in the Awesome Classic Albums department, right?

i know it's been the topic of speculation since he left, but i do think he's a pretty key ingredient. while i like a lot of the material released since the mid-90s (and don't think they're as lost without him as some hardcore fans believe), the clear favorites all have wilder's hand in them.

    Lets look at the facts.

    1. The last Recoil tour was an absolute FLOP. very small numbers at the SF show.
    2. He's under intense financial burden. He's been selling off all his gear on eBay and other auction sites.
    3. He's just finished a divorce.
    4. He's said recently he's not opposed to collaboration again with DM

looks like he needs the money. and Once you get older, you let bygones be bygones and water under the bridge becomes just that.

I'd say this is a very real possibility.
