I just want Wish remastered and reissued on vinyl.. and Lost Wishes/demos in better quality and/or on streaming and could not care less if CD's aren't profitable anymore. I only got the Mixed Up 3CD because I felt obligated to add it to all the others, so I'll probably give in and also buy the Wish one. Next year just makes too much sense for the 30th anniversary. So with that being said, it probably won't happen until 2025.

Don't forget the deep-knee rock squats. Seven or eight at a time, in a row.

4:13 Dream was utter shit. There are people who complained about WMS being a subpar album but I can find plenty of songs on that album that are good, and the B sides are especially great. S/T had a lot of whiners as well but outside of the shitty pop songs on that album, theres a lot of dark/heavy songs on there which still sound fresh to this day. Once again, the B sides are amazing and those lost demo songs from that era are amazing (Please Come Home, A Boy I Never Knew, Strum)...But outside of 'Underneath The Stars', I can't find one thing redeemable about 4:13 Dream. It seems like a very weak attempt at trying to recreate Head on The Door.

I'm not a huge fan, but i don't think it's "utter shit", the album was passable.
Some of it's songs have grown on me over the years ("Freakshow", "Sleep when i'm Dead", "The Hungry Ghost"), the rest is just "Ok".
I do agree that "Wild Mood Swings" is miles better...

Even if WMS is probably weaker than older albums, 1996 was, for me, the best Cure tour ever ! It was nearly the first tour we can't know at all which songs you gonna listen to live ? It was one of the first tour where it made sense to see plenty of shows.

It was a great tour for Forever (can't remember clearly but was played something like 5 or 10 times, mainly in Europe).

I was hoping the same for the Dream tour. I was also a really powerful tour but the main set was boring after 3 or 4 shows. Encores were fabulous even if after the first song we can clearly know the complete encore without any doubt (17s, Faith or Pornography part !).

Has anyone else found this performance a little... awkward sounding?

And I wonder why they picked to play that song?

Another reason I’m so pissed off about the Wish remaster delay is High (Higher Mix). It wasn’t included on Join The Dots, and aside from hardcore fans, it isn’t really well known. It’s such an amazing mix - those added guitars just make the song so much more ethereal.

If anyone reading this hasn’t heard it, hear it:

is there a comprehensive list of cure instrumental songs somewhere? remixes or alt mixes can be included.

The beginning of this higher mix was great and made me want more, i almost wished it removed the vocals altogether.

There are the obvious “Lost Wishes”.

There’s “Carnage Visors” from the Faith era.

These is this that runs at the end of “Picture Show” - a partial instrumental demo of The Big Hand that has been extended by being put on loop here:

There are various instrumental demos of Wild Mood Swings available online.

edit: these ones are new to me. Check the description. Nice song title for this one, lol.

I always liked this instrumental demo of Doing the Unstuck

Open (Fix Mix) is also a pretty obscure track, only appearing on a limited High 12" European release and a 2-track CD release in the US (which was perhaps further pushed into obscurity since that CD doesn't have any obvious indication that it's the Fix Mix unless you play it).

You know, I’ve always wondered about the title of “Open”. Was it just called that so the album would be bookended by “Open” and “End” and looked cool opening and closing with that on set lists? Or is there more of a deeper reason calling it Open based on the lyrics that I’ve never noticed?

If you want that really dreamy Cure sound, this is one a lot of people aren’t familiar with:

    And more Wish goodies,

Wendy Time sounded a lot different before the final album version (less upbeat):

And the early version of Cut was called Away, also sounding different:

In conclusion, release Wish DE, for the love of God!

Where on earth did they obtain the full version of Tape from? So much stuff will be on this Wish DE!

That RS wail at 1:47 is amazing!

Which song do you think Robert has fucked up the lyrics to the most over the years?

Before Three is a pretty good contender IMO:

I love the Wish era. It really was the culmination, the end of that 80's era Cure. In a way, it's bittersweet. The lineup was so tight with their playing especially by 92. But still a good summary of early 90's music. It was the era I remember most as a kid. My parents listened to them my whole life, we had In Orange and all their cassettes/cds/vinyl. But by 92, I was 7 and able to comprehend and remember more I suppose. I vividly remember that era, especially watching Show on VHS. My parents saw them twice on that tour.

Only until recent years did I start to think "I hear a bit of shoegaze influence on this album" . Lo and behold, this thread reignited my love for this era (haven't really listened in a couple years) , started reading some Robert interviews of the time, and he confirmed my thoughts and said one song he loved while recording this album, that he listened to at hours on end was Chapterhouse's "Mesmerise" . Can certainly see how it influenced the sound of Wish a bit:

Pretty sure like 90% of it is on the US sideshow EP, and I want to say the entire thing plays out on the end credits of the Show vhs

Does anyone have any insight into the meaning of the above? I need to scratch that itch.

Also, just gonna keep posting all these gems until Wish DE is finally preorderable.

Personal reading, but I always took it to refer to "opening" a bottle of wine, a can of beer - the start of the drinking process.

Really interesting interview talking about WMS and Bloodflowers.

Interesting when he says he wrote There Is No If... when he was 19:

I really love Bloodflowers. For me, that's the last great Cure album. All of their records have some good stuff, it just gets a bit more sparce as the years go by.
