Gave the self titled album a listen - I love it. The Promise is one of my favourite songs ever now.

The 5 or 6 B sides from that album are even better than half the songs on that record as well. The B sides are much heavier and darker. App Robinson wanted all those B sides ON the album, but Robert insisted on having half the album be dark and half the album be the poppy songs

Surprised there's never been a studio release of 'A Boy I Never Knew'. Such a beautiful song. Would've been perfect on either S/T or 4:13 Dream.

When I would go to the bar with guys after work many years ago, I would always play that song on the jukebox around last call time. Always seemed like a great song to end the night on, even if no one else in the place appreciated it lol

Yes! Some people think the self titled isn't all that great and while it doesn't match their best stuff, it's a great record. I fell in love with it too the first time I heard it.

I'm thinking about putting together a version of 4:13 Dream with all the b-sides just out of curiosity - any suggestions on where to place the bsides within the rest of the album songs?

If I were to get into The Cure, where should I start? I recently just got into The Smiths, and I've wanted to try to get into The Cure and don't know where to start. Any suggestions?

Disintegration is one of their most popular/well known, but it also happens to be one of their best. Definitely start there.

Disintegration is definitely a great entryway. It's a perfect mix of "doom & gloom" and pop, so whichever you prefer you can trail off in either extreme from there. But that's arguably their masterpiece.

After that, honestly just starting from the beginning might be a good method, too. There's a natural progression of increasingly morose albums before going into psychedelic and pop goals. Wish is just them being a great alt rock band. There's really an album for just about every mood and I promise you won't get bored exploring their discography!

Start with Pornography. After that you will either embrace the band for all its brilliance or run away screaming

I'd say Disintegration or Head on the Door would be a good start. After that, either starting from the beginning or checking out one of their greatest hits albums wouldn't be bad. My choice would be Standing on the Beach - it has a great mix of their early singles and their more popular hits.

Excited to see that they will be touring, I was hoping for some actual headlining tour news, not festivals... in Europe. I wonder if I'll ever get to see them preform .

Yeah, I'm hoping they will still do a proper tour in the states in the spring or fall.

The band's twitter has a picture telling Dublin fans to save the date of June 8. Wonder if that's going to be a headline concert?

While I'd prefer them to do a regular tour in the states, I'm hoping one of those festivals next year is Riot Fest. I wouldn't mind attending again just to see them. But if they do Lolla.....I don't know.

They are indeed performing a headline show at Dublin's Malahide Castle, June 8th. Tickets on sale from next Wednesday.

This will be their first headline show in Ireland since the Swing Tour in 96.

The Cure has been officially nominated for the 2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Vote here to help them get in!

This is their second time up for nomination, and probably a greater chance now than they had 7 years ago..

I just voted for Radiohead, Janet, Stevie, and Kraftwerk too.

So far in the standings, The Cure is in 3rd place, which isn't bad, but seriously? Def Leppard is second? We gotta fix that.
