2 NEW Cure albums? Almost done? And he's mixing April the 1st!
Oh wait April fools day haha. Not gonna get me hoping for new Cure music this time. I've heard all this before. I won't believe it until the music is playing in my ears and I check to be sure I'm not asleep.
Of course they could always tweak and further tweak SOALW (that's what we're calling it now) but if the artwork and running order, etc. is almost done then at least there's hope. What I DO know however is...mixing starts April 1st? That doesn't mean Robert will say 'yeah i'm good with it' on April 5. That's where things can come to a crawl. I also know with the vinyl delays around the world, this thing is almost certainly going to drop digitally with LP's to arrive down the road Oh, and if it DOES drop say in like November (The Cure's version of September) then make no mistake about it...even though it's finished, I doubt they drop the second album until like half a year later.
Live From The Moon translated is "Lies from my butt"
(as in, he is mooning us. With his butt.)
I oddly had a dream last night that Robert Smith was performing at a small park in NYC. First ever Cure related dream.
I kid you not. The time I woke up from the dream? 4:13.
Coincidence, of course, but still pretty cool.
Just got my shirt in the mail and sadly it reeks of cigarette smoke. Anyone else get theirs yet?
^ lol! Shouldn’t they do a quality/smell test before they mail them out?
We need more Cure news. Rammstein didn’t put out a new album since 2009, and are now about to release their second new one since 2019.
The Cure are still leading since 2008… Songs of a LOST World indeed.
In lieu of news, Pornography turns 40 today.
I’ll have to give it a spin tomorrow, thanks for the heads up!
Robert gives another update while accepting the Ivor award last night.
tl;dr points:
- 'We will be touring from October on, and the new album will be out before then.'
- 'We walked onstage today to a bit of the new music, actually. Hope no one recorded it!'
- 'Reeves came over to finish a couple of solos. I've got to finish a couple of vocals. Essentially it's a 12 track album. It's there.'
- 'Sounds more like Disintegration than Head On The Door. It's pretty relentless.'
- (as for the second more upbeat album planned) ' While there are a handful of really good songs, I've kind of fallen out of love with others so we're going to have record another 4 or 5 perhaps. If it gets finished, it's very upbeat.'
Actual news I guess, but to that last point.... the fuck is this 'If it gets finished' nonsense?!?
I searched for videos and couldn’t find anything.
Am I the only one that's glad to hear him say he isn't feeling the upbeat album right now? After years of hearing how soon the new album is going to come out that bit of honesty was refreshing to hear. It's always coming by October every year. Maybe this year will be the one! lol
At this point I think this is the most anticipated album of my entire lifetime.

Robert Smith: I have this nice bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.
Well, scratch that. Here's a clip, though fair warning...it's literally like 7 seconds long and it sounds..... like a Cure riff.

Halo is top tier. We almost had it as our first dance song for our wedding. We didn’t in the end, but, it’s always got that association for me. I tracked down the FIIL 7” in order to get halo on wax.
What did RS say about Wish DE exactly?
definitely, definitely, definitely!!!
i really miss when bands would release a single and then you’d listen and find out the B-Side were actually better than the A-Side!
such a great first dance choice!!
(gonna keep that idea in my pocket, thank you!)

“I’ve just finished doing the ‘Wish’ remaster, and there are so many of Simon’s demos that never got past the demo stage and remained instrumental – purely because I couldn’t think of any words for them. That’s really sad, because some of them were really great!
“They’re all coming out as instrumentals, and I think there are about 36 unreleased songs coming out on the package. That’s the same every time we do anything. There’s always loads of music, and a lot of it is Simon’s. I just run out of words!”
here’s a new in-depth review of Wish

This really summates what I was trying to say a few pages back:
“It worries me and everyone that I know of my age.” There is a reason why so many of his lyrics turn to Christmastime and kittens and first loves—formative symbols that carry past adolescence, never losing their sentimental appeal.
In a sense, the Cure’s entire body of work can be heard as an inquiry into how childlike emotion fares against the crushing tedium of adulthood. “For me, the idea of growing up is this idiot idea, because I was more grown up when I was 13 than I am now,” Smith said in 2004. “To me, grownups [were] people that kind of sighed a lot and had worry lines and looked forward to the weekend. I don’t look forward to the weekend at all.”
