I don't think Roger's feelings about Kim or the Pixies necessarily translate to that of Robert's or the rest of the band - didn't Robert specifically curate them to play the Daydream Festival a few years back? Or maybe I'm getting that mixed up with Meltdown, and he didn't have anything to do with it.
It was Pixies who were terrible at Coachella 04, but if I'm honest, The Cure's set that year wasn't one of their best, either. Robert looked super frustrated with sound/technical issues, and that was even before he broke a string during 100 Years. It was great hearing some self-titled album songs getting premiered though.
Yet another reason why we need Wish DE:
So it appears that aforementioned quote about “six weeks” and just deciding on who to choose to mix the new albums was just taken verbatim from what Robert says in the end of the above video. Let’s wait and see what happens.
*puts on The Promise*
“And I’m waiting…
and I’m waiting…
and I’m waiting…
…and I’m still waiting.”
Six weeks, six MONTHS will go by and there will still be nothing new. We all know this, sadly
I’m not sure.
I also have another folder I downloaded years ago called “The Cure - B-Sides and Rarities (Flac)” that’s 6.85 GB. I think it has everything on it that wasn’t included on Join The Dots (remixes, etc). I’ll upload that one day.
Meanwhile, I have uploaded the above folder (also included the TV 2015 re-sung version of A Few Hours After This for that TV show) if anyone wants the link. It’s nowhere near complete but got nice bits and pieces in it.
Seemingly taken from the soundtrack to “One Perfect Day” (credited as ‘Robert Smith’!?) -

What’s everyone’s favourite track outside of the “standard” track listing of the self titled album? Robert said he considers the US track listing plus Going Nowhere as the definitive version.
Truth Goodness And Beauty
Fake
This Morning
Your God Is Fear
Why Can’t I Be Me?
I feel like some of those tracks should have replaced quite a few on the main album.
Just re-reading the lyrics to WCIBM? and love the little nod to Why Can’t I Be You? at the end with the whispered “simply elegant…”
Going Nowhere is fabulous live.. I think I have a few tears the first time (a gig in Deutschland in 2004. think The Cranes were the opening band or Mogway)
I think all the "bonus" songs from the self-titled era are ace. Maybe Fake less so than the others.
I have checked.. I must see (and record) the first time of Going Nowhere live. It was at Köln nearly 17 years ago. Cranes was the opening band !
A great night.. great memories
Going nowhere were played alone as the Third encore..
I remember it was during the Euro of football and France was playing this night again Greece and I remember having the result at the hotel after the show.
I have not watched this and have no intention of watching this based off the thumbnail and comments alone, but putting it here anyway. Just looking at the preview annoys me.
I'm really into Pornography.
before anyone seizes the opportunity, I'm talking about the album.
And Seventeen Seconds.

The Cure’s Robert Smith addresses “imaginary feud” with The Smiths
"I've realised how easily these things can spiral because people want it to be something. They're desperate for it to be some sort of soap opera"

And it ends on this note:
Elsewhere in The Times’ interview, Robert Smith revealed he thinks The Cure’s next album will be their last.
“The new Cure stuff is very emotional. It’s 10 years of life distilled into a couple of hours of intense stuff.” Then adding: “And I can’t think we’ll ever do anything else. I definitely can’t do this again.”
…but I thought it was 2 albums plus a solo album of “noise”? Be clear Bob. Plus, you sang “I can’t do this anymore” on “It’s Over” in 2008. Been there, heard that.

I have seen interviews from 1984 where RS says he is retiring The Cure. He says that every album cycle. I still think he will never release this one. I dream of the day someone in the band gets pissed (Roger) and just leaks everything online
