Just hoping I get good audio in Manc in my seats in Nov/Dec (forget which) - been so long since I last saw them, and it'll probably be my one and only gig of the year. 4-5 encores would suit me just fine

You know it's so easy to get caught up in the setlists themselves but it really does deserve mentioning of how amazing the performances really are; a great setlist on paper can be abysmal live and a disappointing one can be delivered powerfully but all the footage I keep seeing of this tour has just been top of their game in general. The tightness and bar of quality for this band live across the years is really something else.

Most bands tone it down by a certain age. Not The Cure. Long three hour sets and never the same sets. They deserve a lot of props for that. Not many bands do what they do. Not even newer bands. The Cure is over 30 years old now and they're still going hard. Fan or not, that deserves a lot of respect.

If they keep this up, maybe they'll be our version of the Grateful Dead where they'll just do different sets every show and keep on touring till Robert decides it's time.

    goodbye, money

edit: i just went on discogs to sell my copy of Pornography so i can better justify getting all of these, and IT HAS BEEN BLOCKED FOR SALE by discogs. apparently it's definitely a bootleg...which is hilarious because it sounds pretty good. who knew? https://www.discogs.com/The-Cure-Por...elease/3234784

I was reading a bunch of articles on singles by the Cure as I couldn't believe that of all people, Paul Anka did a cover of "The Lovecats" and you know what, it's not bad at all. I kinda like Paul Anka.

Holy shit, "Give Me It". Goddamn, they're killing it. I hope they filmed some of these shows for a DVD/Blu-Ray release.

Was fun tonight but GOD the sound at the UIC sucks.

Reeves Gabrels' guitar was the only thing that was really clear besides the drums.

Most of these have been reissued on vinyl many times over the past 10 years. I shake my head with disgust with these repeated reissues of the same fucking albums over and over again, while 20-25 year old albums like Wish and WMS -- that should have been reissued a decade ago -- continue to be neglected.

August will mark 10 years since the Cure's double-CD/vinyl reissue campaign ground to a complete halt. Seriously, WTF? We got that lousy Disintegration reissue that was squished to unlistenable levels, and then nothing else. Such careless handling of their catalogue, from both Robert and Fiction/Elektra.
Rhino handled New Order's reissues really poorly too.

Setlist: Tape / Open, Kyoto Song, A Night Like This, The Walk, Push, In Between Days, Pictures of You, Closedown, High, Lovesong, Just Like Heaven, Lullaby, The Perfect Girl, The Caterpillar, Sleep When I'm Dead, If Only Tonight We Could Sleep, Prayers for Rain, End

    1st encore: A Forest

    2nd encore: Wrong Number

3rd encore: Hot Hot Hot!!!, Let's Go To Bed, Close to Me, Why Can't I Be You?, Boys Don't Cry

Note: Show ended 20 minutes earlier than scheduled. Not sure why, but reports said the power went out on them a few times, and there was bad sound bleed from the techo stage.
At the end Robert promised that Toronto would be the first stop the next time they come back to North America. Said they'll be doing something very special and the first stop will be Toronto.

Robert also (jokingly, maybe?) said that there was a band vote between Hot Hot Hot!!! and The Drowning Man, but only Robert voted for the latter.

They did 2-disc deluxe reissues up to Technique (in 2008 I believe it was), and they all had a multitude of errors, from dropouts to sound errors to blips, plus a lot of the bonus material was lacking. They eventually sent out "fixed" replacement discs.

    and here:

    http://www.slicingupeyeballs.com/2009/07/15/new-order-reissues-corrected-cds-rhino-records/

Rhino Records has set an Aug. 25 release date for its 2CD re-reissues of New Order’s first five albums following last year’s release of mislabeled, poorly mastered editions that apparently included some tracks ripped straight from vinyl — complete with skips, crackles and pops.

For NO re-issues, get the 2015-era remasters of the factory era albums, which are digital only. They sound utterly immense. Any digital store today selling those album is selling 2015 remasters.

I thought the Disintegration re-issue was pretty good do you think the main album is really too hot? I still have my original pressing somewhere but I never bothered to compare the two.

Asides from basically stopping, I thought the Cure deluxe re-issue campaign was a great example of how it SHOULD be done.

That said my "head on the door" one has a lousy sellophane-style "deluxe" wraparound instead of the harder plastic sleeve of the earlier ones, cost cutting eh? It also has an alternative album cover that I don't understand

Wow that alternate cover is awful!

Other people at the NO forum are saying the same thing about the cellophane wrapper thing instead of the proper Deluxe Edition slipcase as well.

I made the mistake, back when the first Cure reissues came out in 2004 and 2005, of ordering the US versions instead of the U.K. versions. The U.K. ones had the nice slipcase saying "deluxe edition," whereas the US ones had a slipcase, but it was just of the album cover with no additional deluxe edition part at the bottom. Because of my OCD I had to get the same US editions for Top, Kiss Me, THOTD and Disintegration. Maybe one day I'll rebuy them all as UK versions.

My Three Imaginary Boys DE was also missing pages in the lyric booklet of the lyrics, which the band ended up fixing by putting up a pdf of the missing pages on their website. Apparently newer pressings are rectified.

unfortunately, i don't own ANY of the albums on vinyl except the recent disintegration reissue, and that weird russian "bootleg" of pornography (and japanese whispers), so this is a must for my collection. they can't sound THAT bad, and i really would just like to have them all on vinyl. i also just got the most recent reissue of KMKMKM on 180g from amazon and i'm excited about that one.
