by time they started playing Closedown I thought we were going get the whole Disintegration album. It was obviously a great show, didn't get Fascination Street, Prayers For Rain, Same Deep Water As You, or Charlotte Sometimes but I have three more to go. I'm hoping we get an album in its entirety at the Hollywood Bowl shows. Got to go off to Los Angeles in the morning.
They did all of Disintegration (out of order) at this show, except for Homesick and Untitled -

Good fucking god I can only hope Trent takes a page out of this tour's book sometime. These setlists are insane. For a band at this stage in their career to be this unpredictable and urgent is just remarkable and puts a ton of others to shame.

I've never been to The Cure show, but I guess their visual production is rather simple? On par with NIN Wave Goodbye?

If they break out "Out Of Mind" or "Babble" I will lose my own shit and possibly that of others as well.

When I saw them at the Osheaga show there was this layered mirror effect behind the band, which was really nice. This time around they've got a nice big screen displaying visuals for each song (there's a huge spiderweb for Lullaby, for example). So they're not Rammstein or anything but they make the stage nice and pretty.

There's an anecdote as told by Henry Rollins about how they had a bunch of flowerpots on on stage at a festival in the 90's, but Iggy Pop was on before them and wrecked the whole setup in an adrenaline-fueled rush.

Alright so, they're here in ten days...it's safe to assume they'll definitely play A Letter To Elise at this point, right?

This dude I work with gave me his tickets to the KC show because him and his girlfriend can't go anymore, and he refused to let me pay him for the tickets. I'm sooooo excited. I couldn't afford tickets when they first went on sale, and definitely can't afford third-party tickets now, and The Cure is in my top 3 on my live bucket list, so this is incredible.

Note: Tonight's curfew is said to be a "hard curfew", meaning the band HAS to stop at 10:30 or the venue will have to cut them off. Not the usual curfew where the band can go over it and just pay a fine.

That is one of the best live versions of any song the Cure did as they just went balls out and more.

This band really knows how to make fans want to see multiple shows, good hell. I'm able to feel okay about not being able to go just because I know that if I did, I'd be bummed out that I wouldn't have seen another date -- these setlists are just off the charts. Every band with this large a discography should be touring like this (Radiohead's setlists at the moment are a pretty nice happy-medium of "you can count on this getting played and then who the hell knows about the rest," too).

Kinda weird though - three LA shows at the same venue in a row and no set list surprises pulled out, not a single one.

If they're doing a lot of Bloodflowers stuff I wish they'd pull out There Is No If. I've been listening to that song on repeat the last few days. Also does anyone else wish they would drop Watching Me Fall? To me it is just a long 11 minutes. I would have much rather the album contained Coming Up.

Songs that haven't been played yet but have been in the past and should appear soon:

Oh my god, if The Cure whip out Lost at the KC show I will fucking lose it. That track feels like Robert Smith was in a huge Deftones phase when he wrote that one. Seriously these setlists are unbelievable.

I would kill for any of those songs from S/T. And I love playing Sinking on bass. That live version on the Deluxe Remaster is just absolutely one of my favorite moments. I'd love to see Underneath the Stars. I remember that song debuting live on whatever music channel it was and the song was just beautiful. Then the album came along and just didn't even come close to doing it justice. I still watch that live performance when I want to hear it instead of the studio version.
