Broken, I donno... I never really felt that album that much, it was missing something.
He really hit the nail to the coffin with TDS though, that's when his muscial abilities really started to shine. I would even go as far as saying "The Fragile" is better, but that's personal preference. Some like TDS better, others the Fragile. I'm a fragile kinda guy.
Everything post fragile is, well... not his best stuff, but it's still better than most other artists attempts at making new music these days. Trent's sound has matured as well, which I give him alot of credit for. Manson, what is he doing? He is trying to relive his glory days it seems, and he is doing a good job by horribly butchering his live show and still chasing after young girls to have sex with. Not to mention the endless amount of drugs and alcohol he still does. he is not in good shape, his physical appearance shows that, his interviews show that. At one point this guy used to be the smartest person in the room, now he mumbles and slurs his speech, you don't know if he's acting or if there is really something wrong up there.
I think he works as a recording artist to some extend, but based on these songs, he isn't even trying anymore. Some of it is just useless rambling over the same riff and baseline for 4 minutes.
I personally don't care for Trent's recent soundtrack scoring, or his instrumental music, but to me that's better than nothing. I mean, the man is pushing 50 and he knows he is getting old, he doesn't want to be singing about "fucking you like an animal" anymore, it's kind of embarrasing. I'm almost 30 and I am embarrassed to even be listening to that track at my age, I can't imagine how Trent feels about it.
His sound has matured with his age, and I think it's for the better. Alot of his fans are probably in their 30s and 40s now as well, maybe even with family's, they don't want to be throwing bottles around and breaking exit singing while blasting "wish" the highest their stereo can handle.
Manson does not get with the times! If anyone needs to take a page out of anyone's book it's Manson (and many other Rock stars of this day and age) to Trent's. He has learned how to function independantly as a musican and still have a following. He has used and embraced technology in his favour. Manson is stuck in his ways and I bet the album never leaked because he would have everyone he knows fired in an instant. I don't think Manson is an easy person to work with, I mean from what I've heard neither is Trent. But Trent just seemed to have become more relaxed over the years... You see him joking on the internet now about stuff like dance party USA and stuff... normal rockstars would have a fit and demand it be taken down, he just laughs it off.
