    The Irishman - Scorsese/De Niro/Pesci/Pacino

Looks so good. I'm still slightly worried the de-aging stuff is going to be distracting if its too uncanny valley, but the trailer looks great and its crazy to see Pesci back.

    Harvey Keitel too.

There are some hints to the music in this article about Robbie Robertson's new album, specifically of interest the song "I Heard You Paint Houses", which he recorded with Van Morrison.

My most anticipated film of the year by a long way. Having said that I read the book about a year ago and found it a little dull, but I'm sure with this bunch of collaborators it'll get livened up somewhat!

While I'm not entirely sure the world needs another mafia / JFK / Hoffa movie, I am willing to give this a shot based on the actors involved.

In today's world I imagine this story has a lot more resonance than this comment suggests

    This.

I'll see anything that man does but a new gangster movie from maybe the best director the genre has ever seen?? Yes, please.

Saw this yesterday at an Alamo Drafthouse.

The movie flies by unsurprisingly. Perhaps more importantly, it sticks the landing. I went to see it on my birthday, and it's a heavy movie to see on such an occasion given how unflinchingly it deals with mortality. Re-reading del Toro's tweets after seeing the film is extremely insightful and recommended.

Not sure how The Irishman will play in home-viewing situations (pro: can take breaks/intermissions, con: more likely to reach for smartphone), but I'm grateful for the theater experience – especially at Alamo. The grown-ass man to my immediate right kept taking pics of the screen (WTF?!!), and thankfully the staff noticed and kicked him out so I didn't even have to say anything.

I also saw it yesterday and also at an Alamo Drafthouse. oO Are we the same person?

So, I enjoyed it but I don't know how much. It was exactly what I expected it to be. I don't know. I'm still mulling it over.

I will say, the climactic portion of the movie is a masterclass in suspense. My stomach was in knots for a good, like, 20 minutes straight. Brilliantly done. Not surprising given Scorsese is maybe the greatest director alive.

i work near the IFC Center in Manhattan and if this thing wasn't 69 hours long I'd be there in a second to watch it. That's ok though, it's out on Netflix next week.

No one else found the bobblehead CGI to be jarring?

I did enjoy it overall though, the story unfolded at a good pace.

I was worried about the CG, but it honestly didn't bother me. They did a good job.

It’s a very good but very long movie that we’ve seen before and from the same director, no less.

What a slog of a movie. I seem to be in the minority of not being impressed by this. Been there, done that.. This genre feels so tired to me.

    That was awesome.
Didn't expect to see Action Bronson.
