The new/old Jaye Jayle single is simply fantastic! While I really enjoyed "Prisyn" it's the doom and gloom of songs like this why I fell in love with that band. Anyone going to see them live this fall?
Evan told me, he's aiming for Fall 2022 to return to Europe. Fingers crossed!
They're the supporting act for a show I'm seeing next year. I wish they had a Bandcamp or something and it's weird they don't considering how niche / unique they are.
Their Lapdance cover is pretty good as well. The best mix of follow the mold but add your band's sound to it. Straight covers are useless and completely changing the song is risky and this hits the best balance.
I listened to Brighten and it was good but it just made me want to listen to this again. Such a great album. Solitude is on right now and it's fitting this dreary Friday morning right before the start of the holidays.
Somehow stumbled onto a fascinating cover - by a Finnish musician named Kebu, with whom I was not familiar - of "Crockett's Theme" by Jan Hammer. (Turns out Kebu has done some decent covers of the score from Blade Runner, too.)
Which led me to the official Jan Hammer website, from which I downloaded the ultimate collection of original Miami Vice compositions (40+ tracks for under $17). Just might be the ultimate sleeper holiday gift for anyone who lived through the '80s. Can't get enough of this beauty:
I remembered hearing Mares of Thrace couple of years ago and liking it a lot. Recently, wandering through youtube history, I found it again and I love it even more.
