    The new Cabaret Voltaire single
A new album is set to come out in November!
I can't believe it has been about 24 years since the last album came out.

    RIP

(and I know this isn't the best example of a Van Halen song, it was one of the few that connected with me)

@Space Suicide - random/useless fact: our washing machine makes the same sounds as the opening drum beat to this song when you turn it on then press start. Every time I put a load of washing on I think of this:

    Replicants - S/T

"Just What I Needed" - almost too faithful of a cover.
"Silly Love Songs" - really weird start to a song, but then that's Maynard since he's singing on it.
"Life's a Gas" - not familiar with the original but it's alright for what the album's done so far. and given it's a T.Rex cover I imagine it's slowed down a bit.
"Cinnamon Girl" - Way back when this was released (1995) this was the first time I had ever heard this song. gives the song some crunch that would be weird if Neil were singing it.
"How Do You Sleep?" - better than the Scott Weiland/Magnificent Bastards version that came out the same year.
"Destination Unknown" - I would say a faithful cover of Orgy covering of the song? TBH a few of these seem like covers of a cover, if that makes sense.
"No Good Trying" - This one especially. like someone covering a punk song without trying.
"Are 'Friends' Electric?" - Not Numan enough for the cover, really.
"Dirty Work" - Not the best Steely Dan cover I've heard but better than others.
"The Bewlay Brothers" - Hear a lot of Lusk in this cover which makes sense but also some Boingo.
"Ibiza Bar" - odd song to close on. is ok? only ok.

this is thanks to Jeremy from Touche Amore spinning this in a DJ set after their record release party tonight. Some nice bluesy rock n roll.

Definitely a good time for new music at the moment. Probably 'cause I have a bit more time and money to be honest.
Still holding out on picking up new Public Enemy and A Certain Ratio, but from what I can tell they're sounding good and worth a purchase.
Main LP listen right now is Roisin Machine by Roisin Murphy - production is from DJ Parrot who killed with recent remixes for Baxter Dury and Fat White Family.
Next up is Are You Sure I Was There? by The Left Outsides - getting less plays due to swampy downbeat vibe, but excellent none the less.
Of a more NIN friendly style though is Primitive Ignorant (Sym formerly of The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster - remember them?) are chucking out one-off tracks on Bandcamp, plus a couple on YouTube like this one:

Bought the record based on that single alone and can't wait to listen to it and the record before once they arrive:

Although it sounds extremely like a certain band a certain member of SOAD plays in... :P

"We all need our time in Hell" in the Danzig font with the Danzig logo was my Facebook banner for years before I deactivated/deleted it.

@Archive_Reports did you see that Empress has put out two new singles this year!?!? you're the one who got me into them, right? i feel like it must have been you, because you got me into Ire Wolves around the same time.

also, still frustrating that there are two different american bands called empress (though i prefer the one i'm talking about)

    @eversonpoe

I did and it was a really good track. Nice to see them doing stuff again. It was probably me because I found a ton of unsigned artists around that time.
