Hits the spot every time!
@Space Suicide i feel like you'd appreciate this - yesterday, while we were cleaning/re-organizing, i started getting really stressed out/overwhelmed when i had to re-do something i had just done. we had been listening to gram rabbit (one of the few bands my wife has ever shown me that i didn't love) and i just wasn't feeling it, and then i started getting into panic attack mode. i switched over to the "atmospheric black metal" playlist on spotify and IMMEDIATELY got calm, focused, and happy. left it on for the next three hours or so and didn't hear anything i disliked.

It's funny, I remember back in 2015 when it released and everybody was talking it up as the album of the year and couldn't say enough good things about it. I finally checked it out and had the exact same reaction you did. I gave it a couple more shots and it just never really did it for me, so I put it off for a long time, and then one day for whatever reason decided to check it out again (I think it was from listening to the Alice Glass track that one of the guys from Health worked on and loving it), and it just sort of clicked inexplicably. I can't get enough of it nowadays, but it definitely wasn't the immediate love affair it was for a lot of people who were already avid Health fans.
Can't wait to hear this song Friday night!
"The Downward Spiral (2017 DE) WAV"
quite satisfying tonight... I like the clarity of... well, everything.

new canyons
these guys opened up the Telefon Tel Aviv show the other night and, while they didn't have the best stage presence, their music is great.
I'd say this is easily in the Top 5 songs that Billy Corgan has written:

Out of nowhere Frank Ocean dropped a song called Chanel. Beautiful stuff
The Holocene - Slowed down records, VHS fuzz n' drum machines, all captured on a cassette 4 track.
Master Boot Record - 64-bit heavy metal. 100% synthesized. Not a fan of chip tune? This will change your mind... incredible!
Black Mountain Transmitter - Hauntology, dark, in the woods sacrifice shit. Glorious!
The Human League - The 1st two albums.... before success made them a bit shit.
Legowelt/Smackos - The ambient stuff from Dutch synth extraordinaire.
Anders Brørby - Imaginary film soundtrack dark road in headlights drone shit... wonderful.
Karate king - More 80's inspired synth horror film soundtrack stuff? Yeah, but this is GOOD!
Suicide - Mainly late 70's-80's live bootleg stuff. Avant fucking garde.
Coil - Tons of the bloody stuff, their output is endless.
Chris & Cosey/Carter Tutti/Carter Tutti Void - Ex TG/Coum artists doing electronic stuff. I'm addicted
Stefano Leproto - Could be fictional forgotten Italian synth soundtrack maestro.
Blanck Mass - Horrortronics, and from Edinburgh!! His live shows are a total audio and visual punch to the face.
Inga Mauer - Industrial, darkwave music maker and DJ.
Pan Daijing - Asian industrial music maker/psychopath. Deadly!!
The Moomins - Recently re-issued soundtrack to the scary felt kids tv prog. Glorious spooktronics.
yup again....
