Has anyone else checked out the new Modest Mouse album? Just me? Probably just me.

I've only listened once and my initial impression is that I may end up really liking it but it'll be a grower if I do. Hard to describe the sound but I would say it's much closer to We Were Dead... than their other albums (from what I've heard, there are still one or two older ones I haven't heard). Weird, as expected. A lot of very signature MM touches. Some dreamy songs, some poppy, weird ones and one song that reminds me a lot of Hesitation Marks. Not complaining.

Both of the ballad-like slow songs on this album are phenomenal and move me. Remember Tomorrow and Strange World are some of the band's best.

"Strange World" is my favorite song from the first album, funny because i always compare it with "Run of the Mill" by Judas Priest, that's also on their first album (Rocka Rolla), both songs are very different from their respective catalogs, yet i think they are among their best (and obscure) tracks...

ha, the only one of ^ those i DISLIKE is alice in chains.

sing the sorrow (minus "girl's not grey") is my favorite AFI album, hybrid theory is so of its time but i'll never stop loving it, and full collapse is absolutely thursday's masterpiece.

I've never really listened to Aphex Twin before today. This album just makes my jaw drop right to the floor. It's mind blowing.

Oh come on, Girl's Not Grey is a right tune. I agree on the other two though. Hybrid Theory should not have aged this well considering it is so of its time, but when I put it on yesterday, it was like I was 5 again, losing my shit to that record like the first time I heard it. And Full Collapse is insanely great, Post-Hardcore was at its best in the late 90's and early 2000's, and I'd easily have it up there with the likes of The Shape Of Punk To Come, Relationship Of Command and Worship And Tribute as one of my favorites of that era.
