Figured this was appropriate considering today is 10 years since his death. I've always been a huge fan since I learned of him in college in 1999 and was lucky enough to see him at Field Day in 2003, 3rd to last show.
In my experience with him live he was a trainwreck of stop and starts but sheer beauty, heartbreak and genius in between. (see above)
After reading through that I had to take a look back at Roman Candle, XO and Either Or and I've been enjoying his songs on a much more production-based level. the ideas he had sound wise were grandiose at points and he was able to be seriously efficient for someone in his position financially.
Great thread. I love Elliott and most of his work. Either Or and Figure 8 I really enjoy.. Really wish I could have seen him live but I was way too young at the time. What a great songwriter he was.
^^ That's a good one right there. Some of my favorites would have to be: Color Bars, Between the Bars, Angeles, Alameda, Junk Bond Trader, and Miss Misery. Angeles is a pretty wicked song to play on the geetar!
