He's in the film, wearing that gear. It's a set photo, nothing more

Concentrating on HTDA and NIN for the next years should be a priority.
Normally musicians with a past in a band who only do soundtracks are done and out....
to be frank when I've heard that Fincher is thinking of doing other parts of Millenium thrilogy if TGWTDT is a success I shuddered.

He doesn't have to do anything.

The worst thing that he could do at this point in his career is do something out of a feeling of obligation. If he is drained artistically in a certain area (as he was apparently with NIN a couple of years ago) he should just let it be. As long as he enjoys doing the scores, finds them creatively fulfilling, and is happy with the result, then why should he rush back to Nine Inch Nails?

I'm hopeful that a new NIN album is will arrive within the next couple of years, but I'd be fine with another soundtrack release. Especially if it involves one of my favorite directors' films.

    Hey, don't get me wrong.
I love Trent's work and he's a very important musician in my life.
I hope he still will do soundtracks in the future, but I really hope it won't be his main task for the future. That's what I meant to say.
I'm really happy he formed HTDA (and creating a new sound in his career) and I really hope he will do still new NIN stuff in the future.
For me Trent is the modern composer just like all classic composers we had and just like Zappa who died too early.
    Amen...

Well just keep in mind that Trent stated he'd be writing next year with NIN specifically in mind. And he was clearly doubling up on projects this year, with GDT and HTDA. If Fincher pushes forward with re-interpreting the other two novels/films and wants Trent and Atticus on board for them, then I'm sure he can multitask and we'll see a new NIN album soon enough.

Oh hush. It's all said with loooovvvve.

To address what nine_inch_nerd said, I'm sure lots of us love the soundtracks and hope there are many more, but we also NIN too and want to have more of it too. We're not trying to be difficult by stating that.

Obviously TR should do what he wants to do. Whatever we say is just opinions and hopes.

"Parallel Timeline With Alternate Outcome" is one of the best songs TR's ever worked on, period. Props to them for crafting this one.

And "Infiltrator" has recently clicked with me, and it's great.

If anyone hasn't ordered the CD yet, it's down to $13.88 on Amazon (was $25-something when first posted)

I was thinking today: if TR had done these scores under the name NIN, people would not ask for more NIN but for more "old NIN."

He's right, we are hard to please.

    Welcome to ETS boss!

As for myself, I'm just happy to get something. I still remember when we had to wait YEARS before hearing something new.

On topic: I finally got a chance to listen to the full soundtrack and I like it. I can't wait to see how it will integrate in the movie. I especially love the HTDA cover; it's very well done.

I'm going to agree and ... agree. I freaking love this soundtrack, the more I listen to it even moreso. For me, this easily trumps everything TR's done since With Teeth, except possibly The Slip. I think its everything I ever hoped an instrumental TR soundtrack would be.

And yet... its time for some pop songs, brosef.

I'd love to see Trent become the Danny Elfman of this generation. As much as I love Nine Inch Nails, I can honestly say that I wouldn't mind if he did film scores for the rest of his life.

I like the video for Immigrant Song more and more each time I watch it.

Though this isn't really GDT related, there's no random NIN comments topic yet, so I might as well mention it here: did anyone else notice that nullco's Youtube account has apparently existed since May 2007, six months before Trent even left Interscope?

The Same As The Others through Parallel Timeline is my favorite sequence on the album. Beautifully haunting little section there.
