work your way backwards. go with "pain is beauty" and then check out "apokalypsis" and "the grime and the glow"

also, "unknown rooms" is fantastic and would be a good listen at any point.

Thanks for the steer - I was looking at Apokalpsis, but makes sense to work backwards. Cheers!

I just stumbled upon Pain Is Beauty out of nowhere and am now going through The Grime and the Glow. How did I not know of this woman until now? This is incredible. Just, wow.

make sure you check out "unknown rooms" because it's so beautiful.

I saw her perform here in Stockholm back in November. On stage, she was something else completely. I can't describe it. Good god I love this woman.

I know, she's so amazing! I was just kind of a casual fan until I heard "abyss", and now I'm in love. I really hope she does another set of North American shows to promote the album, cause she played at a really small club in the twin cities late last summer and I totally missed out. I really want to hear these songs live.

edit: is it she? i have no idea, but i have a fest wristband and want to make it a point to be there. because you guys. they haven't announced venues yet for all five billion bands.

chelsea wolfe is a person. she is the main songwriter / guitar player / vocalist in the band that plays under her name.

check out "pain is beauty", her second most recent album, then "unknown rooms," her "acoustic" album, then "abyss", her newest album, and then "apokalypsis" / "the grime and the glow" her first two albums (in reverse order). that's my recommendation. a lot of her vocals on her newest album remind me quite a bit of tori amos, which is fantastic, especially in the framework of such dark and heavy music.

Glad she's keeping things heavy. She really stepped up her game on Abyss, and this new track is totally tits.

Hiss Spun is great. Her discography is so strong and consistent, I'm amazed that someone who's committed to such a specific style and aesthetic has managed to get so much out of it for so long and remained fresh-feeling and genuine.

i feel like she just gets better and better with every release.

also, kraw liked my post of her new record on instagram (probably because he did the art direction).

Never really got into her earlier stuff, but damn the new album is amazing! I especially love the last song on the album, Scrape. There is something very reminiscent of PJ Harvey (whom I love) when she sings like a banshee on that song. May see if I can catch a show next month.

I've been playing this album on repeat since it was released. She has specifically mentioned NIN as one of the inspirations for Hiss Spun during this album press cycle, I definitely hear it! So excited to see her on stage in October.

She did it again! I'd rank it above 'Abyss', which was my favorite album of hers. Got the clear & black smoke version vinyl, very nice to look at. Possibly album of the year material for me.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a leather jacket and guitar from Chelsea Wolfe on display right inside the entrance of the Hard Rock in Las Vegas.

Will be seeing her for the first time in a few days.
