^ This is all great news. Really hyped now. It seems like all the stuff we've wanted for so many years is finally happening.
I heard a rumor about possible hi-res releases
4 hours 27 minutes until it happens.
Apropos of nothing, I remember a month or two ago seeing ads on Instagram for some inane app that allows you to easily animate any photo. "This looks awful, who would use this, let alone pay for it?"
Adam Jones, it turns out, was the answer to that question. The 'animated' album artwork cheeses me the fuck out. Hire a digital artist for fuck's sake.

Thanks! Probably just wait until they're up on HDTracks later today since I've been a customer of theirs.
Also everything is up on Spotify:

Likewise their catalogue is now up on their YouTube Channel / Google Streaming.
Nothing appears to be remastered at first glance. Also, Opiate uses the new artwork from the 2013 reissue.
Edit: Artwork for Aenima and Undertow look awful. Look like terrible scans.

I absolutely love Qobuz (at least the UK store, which I have been using for years thanks to a UK friend who made me an account). I haven't used the US Qobuz store yet, but the UK has always been amazing. I am a huge supporter of Qobuz and if I ever had any issues, they've been right there ready to help and fix any problems and even offered me a free release of my choice after a release from the label had audio issues out of their hands. Another time, I preordered the 16 bit release and on the day of the release, a hi-res version appeared. When I wrote them about it, they automatically upgraded me to the hi-res without paying the extra costs. Great store!
The finger print smudged scan used on Undertow is great....
YEAH BABY!!!

Yeah so I purchased all of Bob fucking Ludwig's 24 bit transfers. I can't digest them until later though. But man I can't believe what an awesome surprise to go down like it did this evening. Me bitching and assuming such was a pipe dream then VOILA ASSHOLE! Here you go. Of all the bands I wanted to own studio masters of, #1 has always been Tool.
Also, perhaps a bit of speculation on my part that Undertow and Opiate were also transfered from the 2-inch master tapes by him, but surely they were. I mean who the hell else are Tool going to trust? He's their album masterer afterall. At any rate, this all fucking rules.
Fuck the packaging, this shit sounds improved. There is no official word on remastering but perhaps Gateway did new transfers? I don't know, but beyond speculating out my ass here, everything digital streaming sounds better than my CDs so far. The clarity is bonkers.
I am losing my shit!!!!!!! This is bloody fucking brilliant. Danny's snare work has always been mindblowing, but holy hell.....
The cymbal crashes and their decay sounds improved. Maynard's voice as well. Especially in parts when he subtly whisper sings under his main vocal track. Nerding out. Gonna have to check my lame ass to bed.
Well i know what i'm listening to at work today!
Why do the band always use the promo image for Lateralus as the album cover? It isn’t the album cover.

Kinda hoped for salival in digital.
@Haysey , should you acquire the means to cause a zombie apocalypse,i would implore you to do so, as, this iteration of human civilization is a fucking nightmare, imho, and could benefit from a hard reset.
Ok: back on topic -
In fewer than thirty days, (aka, a few weeks,) we will have a NEW Tool album. I honestly can't believe that this is really happening.
"I listened to Tool via Apple Music, an online streaming service on my iPhone on the way to work today. I'm super excited to hear their new album that comes out this month too"
