And since you're making an exception for "Burn", if you really want to go dark with it...The Hanging Garden

Lullaby because of the spider ?

I was at the Lyon and Montpellier gigs.. The new songs are really good !!
Lyon audience sucks : too calm..montpellier was average..
It's strange not seeing a lot of goth and nearly no youngs : it was the case in 2000/2004 and of course before.

The old one (From the edge for example) sounds like they loose their rock part, mainly because this is not as minimalist as before (2/3 guitars and 2 piano on stage) !!
Cold isn't "Cold" because if this number of instruments.

100 years was fabulous ! great visual.

Burn was really great and it was a song I disliked since 30 years !

i'm pretty sure all songs of encore 2 are played quicker as usual !

I was quite sad not having anything from Faith for both gigs

I will probably go to the Paris gig at the end of the month

Is it me or are they not doing the super long set lists like they've usually done? Or are the new songs longer and taking up more time and the shows are just as long but it doesn't feel like it?

Also, this song is criminally underrated. Can't believe it dates back to the debut album era.

    Also also,

Just realised Seventeen Seconds' cassette cover is different, featuring tree branches and a red blob.

    I love it.

The Cure‘s Roger O’Donnell has responded to Paul Weller’s scathing personal attack on Robert Smith.

Former The Jam singer Weller called Smith a “fucking fat cunt” in a lengthy interview for next month’s issue of Record Collector magazine, which is a special Weller edition (via Louder Sound).
At one point in the conversation the interviewer noted how one of the tracks on Noel Gallagher‘s new album bears a resemblance to The Cure’s classic singe ‘A Forest’ (1980).

Robert Smith is a fucking legend and I don't even know who this Weller fellow is. Nuff said.

More than 2,5 hours is already a long set ! This is quite the length (and even longer) than any last album release tour : 1987/1989/1992/1996/2000.
This is not an best of tour !

He comes off as extremely jealous. I haven't heard anyone outside of a vinyl community video talk about the Jam.

Ya, he never made much of a splash in the states. Huge in England but clubs & small theaters here. On the other hand, the Cure have been quite successful everywhere. These comments were so viscious that it makes me think that there's something else going on or went on in the past. I like some of Weller's stuff like Style Council & he's had some good songs but I don't listen to him often. & most likely it's the Jam if anything that I play. I do love the song "Above the Clouds".

Went to the show last night and it was great. Best moment was the "again and again and again..." part of A Forest. The crowd went apeshit and when the "drop" came, the lights went on and everybody saw everybody cheering and dancing and jumping. Very cool moment.

These set lists aren't that varied really, are they? I mean, compared to the variety that we're used to from Cure gigs.

They're doing long shows though. Over 2.5 hours. The shows at the beginning of the US tour in 2016 were incredibly varied but as the tour progressed they became less so. By the time they hit Europe there wasn't much change. & of course the festival run on the last tour didn't have hardly any variety. They are packing a lot of dates in a short amount of time. I'm wondering how well Robert's voice is holding up. I'll have to listen to some more tapes.

I'm not big on demos. I have more music than I'll ever be able to listen to as the rope is coming undone & the sword will be coming down. I do really like good concert tapes though. So, usually I don't listen to demos.

This is one of the things that struck me very early on in saturday's show. To my ears his voice sounded fantastic. It's like he's still 27 or something. Amazing.
