Preemie namesake nephew is out of the nicu.
He's bruised, but stable and sis in law is good.

    I am SO fucking relieved.

Poor fucker was BORN with a bruised up back: he can weave that into some metaphorical tale about himself when he grows up, at least.

Made dessert waffles for lunch... it had been like a decade since I made them (I don't have much of a sweet tooth so the mood has to be just right for me to put in the effort).
    So good.

I have a lot of respect for the soldiers who gave their lives fighting for their countries back in world war 2, and George looks extremely well for someone in their 90s. Good for him!

    This comment:

I like how everyone's trying to read into the psychological implications of a short film where a dude eats a sandwich with cat shit in it.

That’s a really kind and powerful gesture. Obviously spontaneous. It’s just the guy he is.

I'd wondered how they were gonna handle this. I've loved this dude (as in Liam)/band/collective/ whatever the fuck you're supposed to call this outfit, since I first heard Experience in 94. We even had their "digital punks" vcr release in the nineties, my brother and i, and watched it religiously, back when Keef Flint was a dancer and Fellow Longhair. My oldest nephew is named after Liam Howlett.

There's a version of this at Brixton with higher audio quality and slightly different lighting, but Maxim doesn't speak as much.

That brings up a hilarious memory. And I've likely already told you this story, but I'm not 100% sure.

My sister in law worked at some sort of aquarium/micro zoo/ cafe place in dallas, in 2010 or so.

One day, the River Otter got loose, ran around, and bit at LEAST one kid.
It was so goddamn funny to me.

Apparently, they immediately shut the place down, and had the family sign an NDA, and estimated a settlement. So it wasn't on the news, and the settlement must have been nice, because I've never, ever heard, or seen anything about it, except from my sis in law and a couple of her friends who worked there.

I just love the idea of a River Otter in an enclosure, pissed off and dreaming of getting loose, and finally getting the chance to shoot her shot, and just being like "YAAAAAAH! FUUUUUVK!" and biting people.

I can't NOT think of.that story, and laugh, every single time I hear the words "River Otter."

I always, always keep a cup of cold water on my bedside table.

My cat, Special Agent D.B. Cooper, has decided that that cup is the best, most.happening drink of water in the entire house.

So he tries to drink out of it CONSTANTLY. I'm able to keep him from doing it when I'm AWAKE, but sometimes, I'll see him doing it when I'm half asleep.

This could ALSO go in the "little things that piss you off" thread, but, cats are adorable, and Cooper is my personal animal companion, ever since we lost Spike Lee the bulldog.

I think Special Agent Cooper believes that the cup of water is a damn good coffee

As for what is cheering me up lately: the Yellowstone National Park: Invasion of the Idiots! group on FB. They are not the official YNP page; they are a satirical group following the "adventures" of two bison named Hank and Dirk, an elk named Dirty Brad and other savory characters. There is a Pointy Point Scoring Board where points are given to the bison according to the tasks accomplished (tossing, tossing 10 feet or higher, depantsing, depantsing and tossing etc). The idiots in the name of the groups are, of course, the tourons who need to be reminded to not pet the "fluffy cows" and other animals in the parks.

It's highly entertaining and they are masters of the sarcasim™.

The video should start at 30:54 but if it doesn't just scrub. The gist of the show in general is that they take voicemail from the audience and this particular one is "telling on yourself". Jan, the Pilipino gentleman in the top right, is starting his story right then. It's long-ish but when you get to the part about the clipboard you'll understand why I'm laughing so hard.

The stories about garbage bread and burying alcohol for a concert are also fun but the clipboard takes the cake.

New baby hippo at the Cincinnati Zoo. Princess Fiona is officially a big sister, and Mama Bibi can finally be the mom she wanted to be when Fiona was little:
