I've been thinking about it, and I've come to the conclusion that not any one show could fit in all the different aspects of NIN that I would want to see. I would need like 3-4 different sets/NIN band line-ups for everything I would want to see: Tension style set-up w/back-up singers, Pino, Josh + rest of the band playing pretty much all of Hesitation Marks and Pretty Hate Machine. Trent + Atticus + 2007 band playing Year Zero material + Ghosts/Soundtracks + HTDA+NTAE? 2005 band w/ Jeordie/Aaron playing With Teeth + The Slip material. Old School Setlist with 1994 band, but playing Broken/TDS/TF material.

    Tension Style:
    Now I'm Nothing
    Terrible Lie
    Copy Of A
    Came Back Haunted
    Down In It
    Find My Way
    Something I Can Never Have
    Satellite
    Sin
    All Time Low
    Ringfinger
    I Would For You
    In Two
    Sanctified (With Sunspots rif/synths)
    Everything
    Head Like A Hole
    While I'm Still Here
    Black Noise
    Various Methods Of Escape

    Trent + HTDA + 2007 band:

    The Beginning Of The End
    The Good Soldier
    Me, I'm Not
    Keep It Together w/ Mariqueen
    Ice Age w/ Mariqueen
The Space In Between w/ Mariqueen
    The Loop Closes w/ Mariqueen
    Dear World
    Capital G
    My Violent Heart
    The Warning
    God Given
    Intriguing Possibilities w/ Atticus
    Hand Covers Bruise w/ Atticus
    Capture and Fenway w/ Atticus
    Branches & Bones
    Meet Your Master
    The Great Destroyer
    Survivalism
    She's Gone
    In This Twilight
    The Idea Of You
    Zero-Sum
    A Minute To Breathe
    Burning Bright (Field On Fire)
(probably some ghosts in there as well)

    2005 band:
    Home
    999,999
    1,000,000
    The Collector
    Love Is Not Enough
    Echoplex
All The Love In The World
    Everyday Is Exactly The Same
    Head Down
    With Teeth
    Sunspots
    Discipline
    The Hand That Feeds
    Lights In The Sky
    Corona Radiata
    Deep
    The Line Begins To Blur
    Only
The Four Of Us Are Dying
    Beside You In Time
    Right Where It Belongs

    Old School Band:
    Pinion
    Somewhat Damaged
    Mr. Self Destruct
    Happiness In Slavery
    Piggy
    March Of The Pigs
    Where Is Everybody?
    Last
    Heresy
    The Frail/The Wretched
Help Me I Am In Hell
    Non-Entity
    The Mark Has Been Made
    I Do Not Want This
    Physical
    Closer
    Starf#ckers
    The Fragile
    Just Like You Imagined
    Zoo Station
    The Perfect Drug
    Suck
    Wish
    Into The Void
    Ruiner
    The Becoming
    Gave Up
    The Big Come Down
    Burn
    Eraser
The Day The World Went Away
    A Warm Place
    Reptile
    The Downward Spiral
    La Mer
    The Great Below
And All That Could Have Been
    Hurt
    The Way Out Is Through
    We're In This Together

Every one would be so different but so perfect imo

There are so many songs I want to see live. But really, I would die to see a show where something goes wrong so I can witness something like "Something's gonna get broken!"

Well, I'll tell you one thing...my dream setlist sure as hell wasn't that generic shit he threw up there tonight aside from the new material. And an HDTA track to boot? Yuck.

Agree on that. Nice nod to his hero and mentor, as some people predicted might happen. I don't have much of an attachment to that song though. Don't think it's enough to get me to fly to Chicago.

agreed, that setlist was less than impressive, especially after a three yr layoff. hopefully it was just to round the band into form, but i'm not optimistic.

    2017 edition:

    Pinion
    Branches/Bones
    Wish
    Dear World
    Gone, Still
    The Fragile
    Reptile
    Just Like You Imagined
    Beside You In Time
    Came Back Haunted
    I'm Afraid of Americans
    Vessel
    Closer to God
    The Great Destroyer
    I Do Not Want This
    The Idea of You
    Me, I'm Not
    Head Down
    The Background World

(tape loop plays out through encore break)

    Burning Bright (Field On Fire)
    Survivalism
    She's Gone Away
    Right Where It Belongs v2
    In This Twilight

Grimy, apocalyptic, violent, electronic and with a lot of songs referencing dreaming, a sense of derealization and detachment/desperation to reconnect with something, AKA everything being alive in 2017 is about, apparently. Tried not to overthink this one and didn't even bother trying to include the usual staples.

I'd love to see remixes make the setlist. "Closer to God" - "Self Destruction, Final" - "Eraser (Polite)" - "All The Pigs, All Lined Up" - "Sin (Dub)" - "Slipping Away"

The entire trilogy hasn't been released yet, so I can't really make an actual list right now for what I currently have in mind, but I have wondered what it would be like to have setlist the mostly consisted of songs from Pretty Hate Machine, Broken and The Downward Spiral played alongside songs from Not The Actual Events and Add Violence and whatever the third EP might be. If anything, I'd actually hope something like that happens.

Granted, any other songs from all the albums would also do good/great in their own ways if and whenever possible, since this is Nine Inch Nails. (Especially songs from With Teeth, Year Zero and Hesitation Marks as far as later releases go, but that's just me.)

Based on what's available at the moment - I'd say a dream set would be something like this.

    Brances / Bones
    Last
    Terrible Lie
    Less Than
    La Mer
    Into the Void
    Ruiner
Closer (original version again ... because why not?)
    Not Anymore
    Something I Can Never Have
    She's Gone Away
All The Love In the World
    Deep
    Various Methods of Escape
    Metal
And All That Could Have Been
    Just Like You Imagined
    The Lovers
    Burning Bright (Field on Fire)
    Head Like A Hole

The Day the World Went Away
    Even Deeper
    The Downward Spiral
    Hurt
    The Great Below

Rather than adding my ideal song list, I'd love more than anything to have a little more talking during it - stories, comments, anything. I know that's doesn't seem like his thing (at least since the time I've been going to the concerts) and I suppose it would seem contrary to the style of the concerts, but I'd really treasure that.

My dream setlist would have Last (swapped out with Gave up) and a deep cut off The Fragile. Somewhat Damaged, No you don't, or We're in this together would suite me just fine. Honorable mention to Only, Right where it belongs, Sanctified, Big come down, and of course Burning Bright and Great Destroyer... the next two songs that were to be played at DFN before the show was stopped.

I've definitely heard Piggy, Reptile, Sin Terrible Lie and Something I can never have, enough live for one lifetime, despite the fact I still love those songs. I get that Closer, Wish and HLAH must always be played, and that's totally cool and understandable. I just think some variety would be nice. I seemed to have missed my chance being broke during the 06-09 touring years. When the setlist was filled with a few deep cuts from night to night.
