The remaining 5 tracks from Set 1 with the orchestra are available on the Prog magazine live release.

I love Opeth. I've seen them twice. It was a very dark time in my life.

Opeth was my user name at 2 other websites. They actually replied to a message I sent them at myspace in 2008.

"OPETH Is Currently Demoing "More Energetic, More Complex" New Album"

Still not holding my breath for the growls to return. Even if they do, it's highly unlikely that a return to the Blackwater Park sound will ever happen. Mikael considers that a step backwards in the band's direction. I've been going for long periods of time without listening to Opeth (or metal in general) lately, despite Opeth once overtaking NIN as my favorite band, but I'll still be interested in new Opeth regardless, though I've so far only listened to Sorceress once.

Try the Watershed album. Though there are better albums in their discography, this album has elements from all of them and their many styles. It ranges from heavy as fuck at times, proggy, soft, orchestral, clean and guttural vocals. But pretty much any album is good. Some are especially bloody brilliant.

I feel like Blackwater Park, Watershed, and Ghost Reveries are all good starting points. Every Opeth album stands out from My Arms, Your Hearse and on. Orchid and Morningrise are solid, but even Mikael is upfront about how they were searching for their own sound.

I can agree with that comment as far as Orchid, but Morningrise is a masterpiece and I think, aside from maybe some technical aspects (e.g. mixing) it is probably my favorite. Morningrise, My Arms, Your Hearse and Still Life are their best albums by far. I like everything after (including the last 3), but those albums are on a different level. Orchid is a little bit of a mess, but worth a listen once you have listened the trilogy of albums that came after. Everything else is great, but a little "Americanized"?

Preorders for Opeth's In Cauda Venenum are now available on both record label and fan merchandise sites. Omerch has some exclusive variants in vinyl on the EU/UK site. Nothing yet available on the US site.

There does not appear to be a standalone digipack for the Blu-ray audio yet. It's only available for preorder in the Mail Order Box Set.

The single appears to be the same above for all streaming platforms so it should also be available on Spotify, Apple Music, etc., at midnight in your time zone.

So I had been at work all evening and hadn't yet had a chance to listen.

    It's uh... quite good. Wow!

I think if Mikael just released a spoken word album I would probably buy it and dig it.

That mid section riff-fest is pure evil. Also, a growl? Yes, he did didn't he.. lol...

November's issue of Decibel, including a flexi-disc with "Cirkelns Riktning", can now be purchased without a subscription here.

Nuclear Blast and Omerch have literally 32 options for purchasing the new album; not too keen on "exclusives" after already dropping $120, but alas...

Surprised the leak got so close to release date. I will have mine in a few days. Just going to hold out.

I ordered the Nuclear Blast Mailorder edition of ICV, which doesn't come out for another week (10/04). I'm more looking forward to the Swedish version; this is just something to help tie me over.

I haven't really enjoyed any of Opeth's stuff since everything after Watershed, but I have to say, the two new songs are VERY good. I haven't been excited about an Opeth album in a while. I dig it.
