I used to work in a record store, back when they existed. I think the fact that they, generally, don't exist anymore might be due to this not leaking yet. We often got albums a week in advance, but that was in a world where most music was bought in physical stores. I'd be really surprised if even larger shops (that still exist, like Amoeba) have stock yet. It's not necessary like it used to be.
The booklet reminds me a bit of Seethers Karma and Effect booklet with the transparent pages. It looks like the video might just be some ambient screensaver looking deal. It’s absolutely $34.99 cool but idk about upwards of $60. The packaging is certainly neat and the idea of plugging your tool album into the wall to charge it makes me lol for some reason. I am whelmed.
For those that missed the video, there's at least some pics of the lyrics and booklet here: https://imgur.com/gallery/9qObkGw
Wonder how soon people will port Doom or Super Mario on that thing

Really need this album to drop before I play out FI
All of our Co-Op Record Stores have changed to The Co-Op Shop, and they sell CBD, kratom, you know, everything but music. Peoria Record Company and the Co-Op right across from Bradley University only stock vinyl. I know the people that work there rather well, and two of them confirmed they don't even order special things like this for themselves.
Also, as already pointed out, there should be no problem obtaining the video file, since the thingamabob has a USB port.
I asked and while both my local record stores are getting the album, neither physically have it.
Why bother speculating when you can just go down the street and ask? Lol and people wonder why they are going out of business.
People have waited 13 years. 6 more days won't kill you
Some cool descriptions. https://amp.theatlantic.com/amp/article/596704/

All these years, since 2006, I’ve thought about this very thing... Basically just hoping to myself I can make it alive till this release. It’s never come to mind with any other band for me, probably simply because of my strong connection to Tool in the past, paired up with the wait being so blasted long.
But yeah, I’m also regularly morbid and existentialistic.

Yeah, and that's the thing... If Tool is really HOPING it doesn't leak before release, they can take the pittance loss they'd get from ensuring that Target doesn't get their album well in advance. Target can wait. I assume most of the hardcore fans who want the physical version can buy it direct or from Amazon etc...
Then again, that's a weird thing, cuz I'd assume the Amazon warehouses are loaded and ready to ship...
This is, to me, a really interesting test. If they can keep this from leaking, it'd be a proof of concept for a distribution method in a world where music has been marginalized as a "valuable commodity," relying on support from rabid consumers installed to support it regardless.
Though that wouldn't be a great distribution model for practically any other band on earth... and while I don't suspect this band really cares about this, it would be proof positive that you can build excitement without the music leaking prior to release, and still work within whatever remains of the traditional distribution method.
So yeah, I actually really hope this doesn't leak prior to release date.
Yeah...I mean, nearly a million people will have died by then
I can’t tell if you guys are joking or not... I’m excited to see the new IT movie, but if I’m gonna die, either immediately or in the near future, I have bigger things to worry about. This is almost speculatively morbid. Just hold on a sec.
”whyyyyyyy hasn’t it leaked!!!!!!!?” Is reaching new levels of entitlement, but I guess it’s endearing to see people care that much
The only thing worse than dying is dying before the album drops
Just imagine some poor dude who's been waiting on the edge of his seat for thirteen years, he survives until the leak. He downloads the leak, imports it into his iTunes and hits play. He makes it all the way through Fear Innoculum, which he's already heard 30 times, and then in the first few seconds of the second track, dude keels over from sudden cardiac arrest.
Damn.
I remember getting a "leaked" copy of 10,000 Days from a friend, burned on a CD. It had Vicarious on it and a bunch of stuff that obviously wasn't Tool. Still have the CD, I wonder what those songs are. I guess I could use my phone to identify them if I wanted.
I realize the likelihood of it being a troll is very significant. But man, it's been super funny following this guy on Reddit the past hour: edit. Now if only he can get to the Mirage in Vegas and hook up with them other guys who will help him rip it. (Lol, yes it looks so stupid typed out--sigh).

Oh boy, between the talks of dying before a leak and an urgent quest to get a man to a Vegas casino you can tell this hype is starting to reach it's cabin fever delirium zenith
This Vegas thing is fucking hilarious. I'm following it on 4 different places
Not gonna lie, making Saturday night pretty exciting. Even if we are getting trolled the ride is fun.
