It could have just been stimulus checks from the start. We could have gotten like 10-20 times the money in stimulus checks. All these greedy fucking people.

This town is so small that we KNOW the registrar. My wife wrote her married name on the form, and it got flagged because her id still has her previous name.

Just, ugh. On top of that, she never legally changed her name to mine, so the name on her id IS her legal name.

And the lady said it doesn't matter, it's too late, etc.

As for me, I'm registered, but I'm gonna go get my Id renewed tomorrow so they can't pretend they don't know who I am in Nov.

Edit: wait. I found this "photo IDs can be expired for up to 4 years before and still be presented for voter qualification at the polling place."

It's a feature, not a bug. They want to make it as difficult as possible to vote. When voting is easy and accessible to everyone they lose EVERY time.

‘Red Sweater Guy’ Ken Bone, one of 2016's famous undecided voters, shares his opinion on this year’s presidential election

In an interview with Newsweek, Bone said that he felt “uncommitted again” and that “very, very few people in either of these election cycles were truly undecided.”
    Look, it's Schrödinger's Voter.

    edit: apparently he's decided.

I'm not sure where to put this, but, I just found out that there are Cuban American, Chilean American, and Venezuelan American "Proud Boy" chapters.
I understand the fear of socialism and the left, (I'm thinking of the extremism of Ayn Rand,) but I thought Proudboys were straight up white nationalists.

While predominantly white they don't necessarily have to be racist, it's more western values that they try to defend. They even proclaim that they are not racist, yet being islamophobic, transphobic and misogynistic is totally fine.

And as with all kinds of far-right, extremist and facist groups they become diluted over time, making them a pool for all kinds of chauvinistic and nationalist ideologies. But you're correct in your feelings, yet, look at Enrique Tarrio, who doesn't look like a supremacist on first glance.

I mean, I'm not trying to defend these fucks by any stretch of the imagination. But it was actually a video on that dude that I found, and, I was stunned to learn that he's Afrocuban/Spanish, and 90% of his Proud Boys group in Miami is Latino. It just sort of stunned me.

To a certain extent I think they use guys like Tarrio and whole chapters like Miami to say "how can we be white supremacists with a Afrocuban guy at the helm?" or "we have entire chapters that are Latino". [Im]plausible deniability. As a whole they are very pro-white, pro-western, anti-Muslim, antisemitic, far right, misogynist...they can get cute and creative with how they describe it outwardly ("western chauvinist") but if it walks, talks, shits like a duck...

Yeah, that's a problem because you have to present your ID when you vote and if your ID doesn't match your application, it will get bounced. If you don't legally change your surname, you can use it in social circumstances but never LEGAL circumstances. Also, you have to SIGN your name on your voter application and when you vote nearly exactly the same or it'll get bounced. All of this is to avoid voter fraud.

We don't have to present ID here in Illinois except when we register. But, we do have to sign when we register and then sign again when we vote, and our signature has to match. This is how it's done in most states.

Yes, get your ID renewed, don't give them a reason to fuck with you. It doesn't matter what it says online, they will find every reason to fuck with votes. Don't let them. Every voter should dot every i and cross every t, in advance.

I hope everyone with their fingers on the scale this election cycle have something horrible happen to them. Wet socks as soon as they get to work on a cold December morn, for example.

Depending on the state this could be a very time consuming ordeal under normal circumstances. In the covid age it may be damn near impossible. While generally I agree that having a valid and current form of ID is a good thing it’s just not that easy in some places. And thus, red state voter ID requirements! It’s a feature!

Watching the VP debate right now. Right Wing media will no doubt say Pence "hit it out of the park" because he got his talking points out and didn't act like a petulant child. Left-leaning and liberal media will say Harris won and note (correctly) how full of shit Pence was. In two days none of this will matter as the Trump shit-show will go on.

This is the absolute best outcome. The commission should say "fine, no debate", Biden should say "fine, no debate". FINAL ANSWER. Don't let Trump waffle and come back to the table after his campaign sees him looking like the asshole. Done. Move on.

    Chris Hayes sums it up:

Trump now says he won’t participate in the next debate if it’s virtual.

ok, then you lose the debate. See how that works you clown?

    From the NYT:

A virtual debate might seem like a technological marvel of the Zoom-heavy pandemic era, but there is a precedent dating back 60 years to the dawn of mass media campaigns.

In 1960, the third debate between John F. Kennedy and Richard M. Nixon was held remotely. Kennedy debated from a television studio in New York; Nixon appeared from Los Angeles.

A split-screen camera feed allowed viewers to watch both candidates simultaneously, with the men filmed on a pair of identical sets. The moderator of that debate, Bill Shadel of ABC News, conducted the proceedings from a third studio in Chicago.

Please disregard if this has already been posted but this website is a great resource to see early voting happen >> https://electproject.github.io/Early...20G/index.html

It's a drag each state picks and chooses what statistics they report but the overall presentation is stellar. Especially interesting to me: the rejected ballot reporting in Michigan.

I saw a headline from Fox that said that because of the fly, Pence is the one who won last night.

    Nothing makes sense anymore.

And in regards to the Trump campaign winding down spending in a lot of states, I wonder if it's because they know they're going to 'win' anyway so why bother wasting money?

Also I'm not quite as pessimistic as I was after election night '16 but I'm getting there.

    WHOOPS.

FTR, I saw this tweet earlier and thought it was related to pink-eye. Guess not.

ALSO: the math doesn't add up, does it? But then it never really has.

What does that mean, when the news crosses? Does that mean that they just have this in their pocket in case it happens?
