Just got a ticket for the upcoming show this fall. So excited... as I fucked up the last date by having the audacity to be out of town.

    Countdown to Oct 26 commences.

I hummed and hawed about the VIP, but I've spent too much on concerts this year.... The Portland venue is decent and will be nearly guaranteed a good spot. So................

Yay! I picked up a ticket for the fall tour. I was either out of town or sick for all of his previous dates in LA.

currently listening to "Splinter" for the first time. not only does it sound amazing on vinyl, i think it's easily the best album he's put out since telekon, and definitely the best of his more recent output. seriously, it's SO GOOD.

Exclusive: Gary Numan's 'From Inside' Score Set for Release

Gary Numan's first score for a film in 23 years, John Bergin's From Inside, will be released in two editions in October.

Lakeshore Records will release From Inside – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on Oct. 7. Two weeks later, on Oct. 21, Lakeshore will release the DVD From Inside: Gary Numan Special Edition. The album features original music by Numan and Ade Fenton.

One of the founding fathers of synth-pop, known for his 1980 top 10 hit "Cars," Numan has released more than 35 albums and continues to tour regularly. His only other score was for the 1991 horror film The Unborn.

Numan wrote the score for From Inside in 2013 after the film had screened in more than 35 festivals between 2008 and 2010 with a different score. Lakeshore released that version of the film on DVD in 2012 and has since discontinued it. The company will release a new version with Numan's score.

From Inside tells the story of a young pregnant woman on a damaged train moving slowly through a post-apocalyptic landscape where floods, war, starvation and a plague of death threaten the train's passengers.

Numan described the important challenge of the film was to create music "to establish the relentless power and motion of the train, the desolate landscape, the tragedy of what had happened."

Woo-hoo! Got my CD of From Inside (limited to 1000 copies, apparently) today.

Spooky stuff and very moody, as you'd expect. Quite beautifully packaged. Grab 'em while you can!

There's a new interview up on Huffington Post where Gary talks about what's in store next. Here's a couple of excerpts:

MR: How did Ade Fenton participate this time around and what's your history together? I had always assumed he was a kind of creative partner of sorts.

GN: I don't have a creative partner, to be honest. With the exception of just a handful of co-writes I have always written my own songs and have self-produced most of the albums I've ever made. Ade has produced two of my twenty or so albums, Jagged in 2006 and Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind) in 2013, and we co-wrote the Dead Son Rising album, which came out in 2011. In fact, although that DSR album is credited as a co-write with Ade, in truth, we didn't really write it together. Most of the songs were mine and I offered Ade a co-write credit as I thought his production had gone beyond the point where a simple production credit would be enough, or fair, so I offered to share the song writing credit with him. He also added a couple of instrumental things of his own to it so it really was a joint effort and I was pleased with the end result. I think with the next Gary Numan album though I'll probably look for someone else to work with. I think it's important to ensure that things stay fresh. I've been working with Ade for a few years now, and I think we did some cool things, but I'm looking to try something else with the next one.
    [...]
I have a new Gary Numan album project that I will start writing in January, a fantasy novel that I'm working on slowly but surely, a few more shows to promote the Splinter album, ending at London's Hammersmith Apollo in November, a huge update to my autobiography, a documentary, a couple of collaboration projects that are underway, a live DVD--two actually--and some other things.

Whoa, looks like Gang of Four are opening at the Apollo! All of Gary's best live albums, from Living Ornaments '79 to Dark Light, were recorded at that venue... it's his home turf. Here's hoping the tour finale is yet another mind-melter!

I have to say that I like when Gary announces things like this, they all generally do get released, unlike other artists who promise stuff *cough Robert Smith cough* and they never come to fruition.

I don't think that's the case — probably more to do with Ade still being based in England while Gary's moved to LA.

Hmm i always saw that Ade was becoming the Atticus Ross to Gary's Trent Reznor.

It'll be interesting to hear some Numan post-Fenton.

Gary has just contributed an exclusive track with vocals to a video game called The Evil Within. The game was released Tuesday, October 14 (exactly a year after Splinter was released) in North America and Europe, and was released yesterday in Australia. The game was released in Japan as Psycho Break. The single-player survival horror game is available on Playstation 3 and 4, Xbox One and 360 and for Microsoft Windows. The game was published by Bethesda Softworks who has also published a few other titles I enjoy! The game is expected to do very well, having been created by Shinji Mikami, the inventor of the Resident Evil series. It has already gone Gold as of September 25. To promote the game, Warner Bros. Movie World in Queensland, Australia, created a maze populated with real-life characters from the game as part of its annual Fright Nights event. As for the plot, while investigating the scene of a gruesome mass murder, Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners encounter a mysterious and powerful force. After seeing the slaughter of his fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead. Facing unimaginable terror, and fighting for survival, Sebastian embarks on a frightening journey to unravel what is behind this evil force. Gary's song is below:

Going to the Hammersmith show on 28th November. Can't bloody wait! I'm kicking myself for not getting my act together sooner and and getting a VIP/Meet and Greet ticket. Nevertheless, it should be fun!

I absolutely can't wait to see Telekon performed in full in October. The real pisser is that I can't go to the Replicas one two days before. At least I've seen the Pleasure Principle already
