That would be better if they used Mr Bananagrabber

They probably had some issues with the likeness rights

Release of an outtake which tells quite a bit about what happened after the finale, so maybe a little spoiler-y:

just got back from the frozen banana stand setup outside radio city in manhattan. line was WAY too long to bother (bananas were package treats, not as fresh/tasty as they looked in the show), but we snapped a few photos. no cast members there, but we did see someone with a "mr. manager" nametag.

It will be impossible for them to fulfill my expectations, but I have to say that, with the possible disappointment in mind, the trailer was better than I expected. stares/stairs, ha! They haven't run out of puns.

I had quite the opposite reaction to that trailer. Kinda underwhelmed me.

^^Same. The 'lupus' line was the only thing that made me laugh. Nothing else even made me smile. And what's up with Buster? Between the trailer and the clip we saw, I'm wondering if he can even form sentences anymore.

Anyway, that being said, trailers can be deceiving. I wasn't crazy about it but I'm still excited to see the new season. I'm skeptical, but cautiously optimistic.

Arrested Development's humour was mostly based on escalating farce and separate, innocuous entities coming together. The scene that made me laugh the most in all the series was the culmination of the showhouse tour for the Japanese investors, and that sequence wouldn't have one iota of its comedy value if viewed outside the context of the rest of the episode.

So I'm not worried by the trailer, though it's a shame they couldn't find any quick gags to throw on there. Might have been a better idea to show a full scene, they're not going to win any new fans with that trailer.

The "night terrors" line was amazing.

I thought the trailer was funny. But again, it's just a minute and half trailer. Nothing to go by really. Loved the throwback to the cornballer with the taxi door.

If someone doesn't make a movie out of that I will be quite disappointed.

    Some more hidden jokes:

I'm starting to think that every single line of dialogue in that show was part of a greater joke.

Aren't they released on the 26th? That's what Netflix and everywhere else has been saying for weeks.

Ball snappers. I'm trying to wait until next Friday to watch them all in a row with a big box of Krispy Kremes to eat but I do not know if I will be successful.

I can already see the apologists starting to come out in force. Other than ETS and my FB friends, it might be time to avoid the internet for awhile as far as AD is concerned.

The first two episodes were pretty bad. There's the danger of being too critical and then there's the danger of just being happy with whatever we're given because it's back and I am trying not to fall into either camp. I wasn't crazy about the idea of changing the format of the show, but hey, if it's funny then that's all that matters. I just watched the first two episodes and they were not funny. The second was a chore to get through. I really, really hope it gets better from here. Maybe it just took them some time to get back into the groove, so to speak. I've heard the third episode is really good. I'm saving that one for tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Three episodes in, having a coffee break now. The first episode was terrible and turned Michael into THE WORST, episode 2 was a bit better (loved Dr Norman and China Garden) but the main plot was dull and the third episode was BRILLIANT. I'll just edit this throughout the day with my reactions.

Edit 1: The second Michael episode was an improvement, but had some off moments. This Tobias episode is KILLING me though. "For 2000 rupees, we'd both go down on Matthew McConaughey."

Yikes. Two episodes in and this is just... awkward and not funny. It's sad, really.

Terribly lazy editing and green screens too.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow though when I watch some more... (although I'm now not expecting too much).
