    Old Man Gloom

    Who's a fan?

Featuring members of Isis, Cave In, Zozobra, and Converge.

They've recently reunited and have a new album coming out called "NO".

They're on a tour right now too, and their first show was tonight in Cambridge, MA. It was fucking awesome. So glad these guys are back together. Going to their show tomorrow in Allston too!

The new album's available on cassette and vinyl at the shows. No CD available yet. Aaron said it'd be available in about a month.

I'm a complete fan of Cave In, Zozobra, Converge, and Isis, so I'm surprised I'm listening to OMG for the first time this year! Pretty rad experimental sound - I'm seeing them in Brooklyn on Tuesday.

I hope they do a West Coast leg too. Seminar II was just repressed on vinyl as well. I cannot fucking wait to hear/purchase the new album.

Their short tour is over now. Anyone go to any of the other shows and get the new album on vinyl? I would have gotten it if I had something to listen to it on, but my record player is buried away in storage. I'm dying to hear the new album.

    Really looking forward to this.

NO was one of my favourite albums of 2012 and this is a very promising teaser!

Another new song, "Predators", and an interview!

And according to the article, their documentary is coming out on Thursday! I hope they use some footage from the Boston shows they did in 2012. I might be in it if they did!

The Daymare site appears to say that if you order both of them you get an exclusive DVD but I have no idea if the two CDs are different in any way.

The leak has only has the first 8 tracks and not in the order stated above. Amazon list Ape of God and Ape of God II. Excited for more material.

Just posted by OMG on Facebook:

Guess what, assholes. The Ape Of God is two entirely different albums. If you downloaded some leaked shit, you don't have either. You have some bogus version we gave to press, cuz we knew those jerks would leak it (if you reviewed that fake record positively, thank you. We're just THAT good).
    We will always trick you.

    just sitting down to listen!

as funny as i think the stickers are, i'm a little pissed that the records didn't come with downloads, since the only one i can find is the fake one they released to fuck with the press.
anyone have an actual digital version they wouldn't mind sharing in a PM?

no worries! i actually finally found one that's the real album. thanks so much, though.

also, holy shit, this album/these albums is/are amazing. i listened while starting to read the first hunger games book which made it feel even bleaker than it would have normally.

Glad you're enjoying, man. It's some solid shit.

In related news, Brooklyn Vegan posted Kurt Ballou's list of his favorite 2014 albums that he had a hand in recording/producing/mixing and Ape of God was his first mention:

"Old Man Gloom - Ape of God. The hijinks and shenanigans that took place during the release of this record hopefully provided their audience with a tiny glimpse into the misery I experience when working with these idiots."

    Fucking priceless.

Ooh, I was hoping a new press of Zozobra would happen. Gonna investigate that puppy right myow. (Easily one of my favourite things related to Aaron Turner, and, I think, a prime summary of OMG.)
