Three and a half hours in the queue to get the Courtney Barnett single, zero regrets. I'm a massive fan, love the new tune and the B-side was the first time in twenty years that I got to initially experience music I haven't heard before on vinyl instead of tape or digital. I think the last time it happened was with an old copy of In Through The Out Door, courtesy of my old man, at least that's the one I still remember. It's all in your head, but adds a lot to the listening experience.

Oh, and those Tangerine tracks are beyond nice.

$4.99 for add violence? What the hell? It’s roughly £20 here ($28)

As a well-known Doom (1993) nut, I keep getting sent this, which is not my cup of tea but might be others

The most appealing thing about that release for me would be the slipmat. But, having failed to secure a NIN Spiral slipmat (which I think has appeared at reasonable prices in the NIN US store from time to time? not the UK one though ), my current slipmat is a DNA Lounge one:

They had a bin of overstock I guess? Tons of albums in there as I flipped through, including Beck's "Colors", a few other relatively new titles...but I couldn't bring myself to snag any more once my total bill already rang up haha.

As another bonus, as you left the store they had a nice lady with a clipboard who said 'Want free tickets to an upcoming show? We have one pair of guest list for practically every good show coming up...' *scans sheet and sees it's blank next to NEUROSIS/CONVERGE* 'Oh hell yes.'

the new APC album left a bad taste in my mouth, so today i pulled out my vinyl copies of their first two albums (for the first time in years) to cleanse my palate.

a perfect circle - mer de noms
    2xLP, original pressing

a perfect circle - thirteenth step
2xLP, original pressing (side C/D labels are reversed, can't seem to find anyone else with the issue)

managed to snag these two at the Sub Pop record shop at the SeaTac airport. They had about four copies each left after I snagged my set. So excited to have these two and I didn't have to pay ebay prices!

Hello fellow vinyl lovers, I'd like to get your input if possible. I'm looking to slightly upgrade my mismatched setup. Here's what I have:

    AT-PL120 Turntable
    Shure M97xE Magnetic Phono Cartridge
NAD PP 2i Phono Preamp (so yeah, not using the built-in preamp on the turntable, OR preamp in the receiver)
Pioneer CS-J825Q Speakers (aka old speakers from 1990)
Optimus STAV-3790 A/V Receiver (aka old Radioshack receiver)

If I were to make one minor upgrade, what should it be? Cartridge? Receiver? I only have a budget of $200ish right now, or else I would maybe consider new speakers. Here are two items I was contemplating:

Onkyo TX-8220 2 Channel Stereo Receiver with Bluetooth
Ortofon: 2M Red Cartridge Mounted on SH-4 Headshell

Which of these should I get? Or for similar budget, is there something else you'd recommend? What would make the biggest impact on the sound quality, a new receiver or a new cartridge? Thanks in advance for any and all help and suggestions.

Watain - Sworn To The Dark (2012 Black Vinyl Reissue, LE to 500 copies)

i would start with the cartridge. i have the 2M Red on both my turntables and i really love the way they sound. also, if you're handy at all, you can just mount the cartridge yourself on the existing headshell and save a few bucks (that's what i did on both of mine).

Did you just pick up that ghosts or did you get it at the time?

I recently picked up the deluxe (not vinyl) ghosts which was one of my long time wishes. I’ve had the (standard) vinyl already

oh, no, i've had it since its release. that's what i meant by it being "pulled out of the vault" (as in it's been in my collection for a long time). i don't think i've ever dropped $300 so quickly as i did that day in march 2008. i remember almost having a heart attack when the website crashed.

New arrival today: Telepathe - Destroyer 12'' picture disc single, with the Reznor/Ross/Cortini remix on the B-side. I've always wanted this single because it looks ridiculous so I'm glad I have it (and a relatively low number too).

I’m sure there’s an appropriate NIN place for this question but this is my favorite thread on the whole site and I’m sure I can get the answer here too: please tell me the difference in sound quality/pressing quality of the following:

The Downward Spiral Back to Black version v. New definitive version
The Fragile original press v. New definitive version

Again, just quality of sound and pressing not all the cool extras as a point of consideration. I have older versions but in all the NIN hype today I’ve considered getting these newer versions but if it’s not a huge difference, I’ll probably continue to pass on them. Thanks!
