Looks like I'm going to Coachella next year!
Yeah the south is waaaaay to far for me, let's hope for a Denver or Chicago date!!!
Really hoping this time around it churns out some new material.
I don't really dig Prophets of Rage, and Zach was meant to do that solo record after dropping Digging for Windows but as with him usually nothing materialised. If they can get their shit together this time they could pull a hell of a record out the bag given the current country and world political climate.
If they have no new material i'm honestly not interested. They have nothing new to say so they're just gonna get paid millions for Zack to puppet the words he wrote when he was in his 20s.
I never got to see them, so I'm super fucking pumped. I just hope that they announce more dates and that one is in MN, WI, or Chicago so I don't have to book a flight...
Normally people have the opposite reaction when it comes to bands and new material. They want to just hear the old stuff and say fuck the new stuff, lol.
It's been so long, and I've never seen these guys live, so I'm OK if there is no new material.
I don't usually begrudge bands reforming for a celebratory lap after so long, unless it's a very very obvious cash grab with zero feeling whatsoever, but it's good for the fans that never got to see them first time round.
That said, they've done the whole reunion thing from 2007-2011 already so it's time to shit or get off the pot after this, lest they turn into System of a Down, who have stated there's no album coming because they can't get it together for studio work, however they intend on touring every other year still. Never forget the Pixies doing a solid ten years or so on the reunion circuit before they realised they had to shit or get off the pot and make a new record. To be a band simply retreading old ground with no new stuff is so stagnant.
I have to wonder what Tom had to do to get Zack back on board. Zack is the one who's stuck as close as possible to the Rage manifesto, while Morello has been out scooping every spare dollar he can get and then some. I can't imagine they see eye to eye on much anymore.
Well I’m pretty excited. Husband and I were talking a couple years ago about bands and singers we’ve never had the chance to see, and we both agreed Rage was top of the list for us if they ever came back for any reason... but neither of us really expected them to ever again.
Plus the opening date is here in my hometown. Bonkers.
This is the only good news I’ve had recently, so I’ll take it.

Mr. I hate capitalism Tom Morello ready to put some more 7 figure checks into that bank account.
Some people are such a joke. You almost wonder if they are just that miserable all the time.
That's true.
This is incredibly off topic, but put be in the minority of NIN fans who would RATHER hear the new stuff live. Just cuz I've been to so many shows spanning 15 years that I'd rather hear stuff that I never heard live before. I get more excited about hearing newer stuff probably more than the average person.
But I guess it does depend on the band. This is a NIN forum so of course I (and others) would probably have that feeling. Generally, if it's a favorite band of mine that I follow near and dear to my heard (Rammstein, NIN, Ghost, TOOL to name a few) I'd rather hear new stuff. But If I find myself at a band's show that I am not very acquainted with (Queens of the stone age, Soundgarden, Metallica, Slipknot... few examples) I know all their big songs/hits, I don't own any records of, and if they are touring under a new album, i'd rather them play the old stuff. Thing is... there are those types of fans w/ NIN as well. There are the fans that only know Closer, THTF, Hurt, Wish and as much as I hate those songs and don't ever want to hear them, I need to stop and think what if that was me and I went to a band where I just knew a few of their old songs and they never played any, I would walk out of the show disappointed.
I guess tying it back to keep it on topic here, to me, RATM is that band. The singles band. The band I know from the radio or watching music videos on TV. I don't own any of their records. Never have. Never will. Would I pay for a show if it came to town? Damn rights. I do generally enjoy what i've heard from these guys. Just not enough to get fully invested in their records/deep cuts. If they released a new record, I would probably download it out of curiosity, listen to it a few times and delete it if I needed to free up the hard-drive space. (god, I just realized I'm showing my age here... download and delete records lol. What is this, 2005? You kids and all your spotify's and your google streaming services and what not, lol. I'm still rocking an mp3 player. I like to keep my music separated from my phone).

Just a reminder that this is the dude RATM are supporting by playing Coachella.
The anti capitalist hardcore liberal band RATM gladly accepts their 7 figure paycheck from a hardcore right winger lmao. You couldnt write a better sketch if you worked for the Chapelle show
it's fair though.... Rage Against the Machine playing Coachella for the thousandth time needs to be called out for hypocrisy at least
