    The Oa

    All episodes this Friday:

I completely forgot that Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij were working on this until Brit tweeted the trailer a few days ago. As a huge fan of Sound of My Voice (one of their previous feature film collaborations), this is everything I could hope for from them. So psyched.

Really curious about this too, but I'm gonna wait til I hear more about what other people say about it. Part of me wonders if Netflix is just trying to cash in on their Stranger Things hype, and I'm skeptical about whether this will live up to my expectations. Still, I am interested. Maybe it'll be good.

Just posted about this in the random thread...about halfway through The OA, and while you need to stick through a somewhat slower first episode, by the third episode we were really hooked.

On the fourth episode of The OA, really good so far. Definitely a strange and intriguing show. Third episode had lots of tension. Me and my girl are loving it.

Mmmmmmm started it tonight. Love it! Similar but much different than the 2004 film.

    Finished the OA.

It started so beautiful, so intriguing, so heartfelt... then it got worse and worse... and then it all crashed and burned.

Got worse for the characters or as a show?

Unequivocally as a show. The first episode was very intriguing, then it slowly shit the bed ever since.

@Space Suicide have you finished Unfortunate Events yet? I think the whole thing was one of the loveliest and most enjoyable series they've put out yet and I am very hopeful for the next season.

I'm totally in love with the theme song and REALLY enjoy how the lyrics change in the middle verse to be sang by Olaf's disguise character in that particular story. Not to mention everything else.

Gilmore Girls was one of my favorite shows when I was a teenager. In the last few months, I've watched all of the old seasons again, and was so excited to watch these new Netflix episodes.

I finally got to the first one last night, and I was NOT a fan... I sure hope the other three are better!

For the most part they're all aggressively mediocre.

Awwww. Is this going to be like the Arrested Development 4th season where I just pretend it never happened?

Gonna give the second episode a go tonight!

    At times, yes. Solid comparison.

I hated it so much, but I can't exactly pinpoint why. It's worth watching for Emily alone, though. That part of it was so great. Maybe the rest just felt like a letdown compared to her story.

The People vs OJ Simpson is soooooo good. Glad I'm finally getting to see it.

Gooding's OJ is an angry little spoiled rotten boy. Schwimmer's "We are Kardashians" speech got a huge laugh out of me. I love how those kids are portrayed as loud obnoxious entitled little shits from the word go. Episode 8 is the only time the Kardashians seem decent. Schwimmer does a good job. I like Selma Blair but she doesn't have much to do in this. Nathan Lane is nearly unrecognizable. It's always nice to see Bruce Greenwood. Marcia Clark's hair WAS in fact, the worst. Chia Head. Courtney B Vance IS Johnnie Cochran. John Travolta no longer looks human.

Ryan Murphy is capable of good work when adapting. He's not a great writer as AHS proves over and over again but he can work with True Crime all he wants.

Binged The People vs. OJ over the weekend, really liked it. It was incredibly well cast and they were all great. So much about that case that I didn't know.

Also started Santa Clarita Diet. Really like it, my kind of comedy. Olyphant and Barrymore are great together.

I'll out myself on this one

I think the main problem is the episode length. Around 6 hours in 4 "episodes" doesn't seem to work very well with the (basic) story they were trying to tell.

    ----------------------------------------------------------

I was happy to see they added 200+ episodes of Forensic Files last month (and another collection this month). Overall, they look really good, but some of them suffer from excessive edge enhancement.

My prediction for the season 2 finale: the gang will dance on top of the Empire State Building in order to stop an alien invasion.

    The Netflix Thread

I am so behind. Gotta finish Narcos, start Stranger Things, OA, like six films.

Amazon is giving Netflix a run for their money. There are like 6 Originals over there I want to watch.

Edit: Watched Netflix's show Paranoid. I liked it. If you like English crime dramas, go for it.
