i don't "dislike" the album yet, but so far it seems a bit "mushy" and nothing is really standing out as particularly amazing, (or bad fwiw).

that being said i'm more a fan of their stompier songs as much as the heaven single was discouraging, the all that's mine b-side held some promise.

Martin on the Ben Hillier Haters Club and "moaners."

My hard copy of the album should be arriving today. Can't wait to finally hear it!

Soothe My Soul is one of the worse songs on this record. It's DP by the numbers, safe, and uninspired. Could have been a b-side on any one of their records. Nothing fresh with this one.

SMS is a very safe choice for a single, I agree. I would like to see Angel, Secret to the End or Alone as the next single.

A very good album nonetheless, gives me a Violator/SOFAD vibe.

Delta Machine is a fantastic album. I'm very impressed with this. Happens All The Time is like one of the best songs ever.

Anyone planning on doing the amazon presale tomorrow or facebook presale on Thursday? I'm pretty anxious and want good seats for Chicago and Detroit, but can't do VIP for a single show since I just bought a 3 day lolla pass last week. Livenation is going to give me a stroke, I know it.

Yeah, I'm planning on doing the Amazon presale. In what price range are decent seats?

I rarely do stadium shows. I got lucky and saw DM at Madison Square Garden for free on Tour of the Universe because my stepsister had to back out last minute, and had a blast (first and only time I've seen them live). Luckily, their NYC/Brooklyn show at the Barclays Center is on a Friday, so I can't NOT try to get tickets.

    I'm flailing:

I think this is the first time they've played Belfast in nearly 30 years.

i would take UIC pavilion or even the united center over that place (which my dad still calls "the world" because that's what it used to be called)

I see that DM is not coming near Kansas or the surrounding midwest area. Will there be more dates added to the tour?

It's still "The Tweeter Center" in my head haha. If my husband had the time off, I'd rather drive all the way home to Detroit to see them at DTE (which is still "Pine Knob" in my head). The World Tweeter Center is a giant concrete acoustic hell in the middle of fucking nowhere.

Martin might be singing Higher Love live according to Dave on the upcoming tour. They've rehearsed about 40 songs.

    Have you embraced social media?

Personally? No. I barely email. I text, but—put it this way: The other day, my daughter texted me something that was funny, so I texted back to her “LOL” And she texted back to me, “Don’t do that, Dad.” I was like, right, right. I do use texting as a great way to communicate quickly, but I don’t Twitter or anything.

I for one am excited to hear Martin do vocals for higher love. Martin is just fantastic in everything he does. Can't say the same for Dave.

Martin could sing the phonebook live and I'd still be there, clasping my hands together and tearing up.

I'm liking it on the whole, but my god does that middle section drag. Swap out My Little Universe and Slow and replace with Happens All The Time and Always and you'd have a winner through and through. The songs on the bonus disc really are a cut above.

I do enjoy this album more than the last two efforts. I never really like Dave's songs but Should Be Higher is really good.

The only depeche mode album that i've REALLY sunk my teeth into is violator, but it's definitely one of my favorite albums of all time, and it's just about all i need in the ole' bedroom...well, that and pretty hate machine. i loved the live video they put out a few years ago, and i love "try walking in my shoes" and "never let me down again" and such. i've only given the new album one whirl, and it was pretty damn cool...thinking of listening to it again here shortly.
Has anyone else ever thought it strange that trent has never, (to my knowledge,) acknowledged depeche mode as an influence? to me, eighties DM to PHM is such an obvious sonic progression.

I just wish they weren't playing the Staples center. I've vowed to never see another show there. That is the shittiest sounding mega-venue ever. Great if you want to watch a basketball or hockey game, but utter shit for music.

Finally got Delta Machine: after a few spins over the course of a week, I am VERY impressed.
I think this could be their best record since Ultra. It flows incredibly well.
DM have not sounded so comfortable in their own skins for ages: Playing The Angel sounded like it was trying to recreate former glories. Here the throwbacks and citations are simply cool. I feel that for the first time in a long while DM are not trying here: they are achieving.
