It is, it's common-ish sadly. People get off on seeing it. A sick fetish shit.

I'm listening to the new album right now and... man it's fucking good. We need to campaign to get him into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame for next year. It's overdue.

I have either the Japanese version of Splinter waiting for me at home, or the limited to 12 version of Splinter with the hand-written lyric sheet.

Will let you know when I get home.

    Terrible Lie
    March of the Pigs
    Piggy
    All Time Low
    Disappointed
    Came Back Haunted
    Find My Way
    Sanctified
    I Would for You
    The Frail
    The Wretched
    In Two
    The Big Come Down
    Running
    A Warm Place
    Somewhat Damaged
    Wish
    The Hand That Feeds
    Head Like a Hole

    Encore:

    Reptile (With Gary Numan)
We Take Mystery (To Bed) (With Gary Numan)

    Even Deeper

They most likely played this because of this:

"We Take Mystery (To Bed)" is a 1982 song by the British musician Gary Numan. Released as the second single from his I, Assassin album, it reached number nine in the UK Singles Chart (the biggest of three Top 20 hits from the album and Numan's last Top 10 hit to date).[1] It holds the distinction of having the shortest chart life of any Top 10 hit ever since the official UK chart was expanded to a Top 75, at just four weeks. Two music videos were made for the song; one being for the American market which begins outdoors with Numan and his band driving through New York in an open-top car before cutting to a studio performance of the song,[2] the other was an entirely studio-based video for the UK market featuring Numan by himself in a variety of costumes.[3]
A different version of the song (known as the Early Version) is available as a bonus track on the 12" single (and subsequently on reissues of the album on CD) this early version was recorded in 1981 as part of early sessions for the album, I, Assassin. There is also another early version, which was discovered on the studio master tapes when Beggars Banquet Records remastered the album in 1999, though this has never been released.

The extended version features a lengthy fretless bass solo by Pino Palladino.

I know it'll never happen but I would love to hear NIN do a revision of one of Gary's classic albums, Telekon or I, Assassin. GOD… I want to see the full recording of We Take Mystery!

Here's the beginning of it... sounds like Numan came in 8 bars too early (unless he meant to sing the first word three extra times in a row), causing someone else to mess up a keyboard line. Still sounds fucking awesome!

I just posted this at NumanME. What are your thoughts?

    http://www.numanme.co.uk/forum/forum...104211&#104211

    Topic: The meaning of Splinter

We know that the album itself is largely derived from a bad period of Gary's life when he was dealing with depression that almost dissolved his marriage. However, how do you interpret the title track "Splinter"?

The lyrical content is similar to previous themes explored in Sacrifice, Exile, etc, about being opposed to religion and the goodness of god. I see it as the ultimate culmination of all of these sentiments, and fully expressing his disdain for religion and god, the title of "Splinter" sort of depicting that the topic itself has always been a splinter in Gary's side; something that's always irritated him and he's brought it right to the forefront with this track.

    Agree/disagree?

New album is awesome! Pretty bummed out that I missed him on tour in NYC/NJ a week or 2 ago, but I would love if he opened for NIN for a full tour. I got into Numan simply because of his collaboration with NIN and I feel many more people would have the same reaction I had if seeing GN live, as I was so lucky to see the Pleasure Principle tour a few years back.

I've been listening to an mp3 YouTube rip, but will rip the proper mp3 from the Japanese CD when I get home tonight.

Like with the USA Splinter VIP tickets, the UK ones get a promo CD featuring an early version of Here In The Black (presumably different to the one on CD 2 of the deluxe edition).

If anyone finds an mp3 please let me know. Want to add it to the other two demos (Everything Comes Down To This and A Shadow Falls On Me, the former from the US VIP promo CD).

    Mountain Oasis Round UP!

The panel with Gary on Saturday was recorded and just posted:

As a newbie fan I found it very interesting and also quite adorable. He talks at the end about moving to LA and the reasons why.

And the full set (audio only) he played later that night is here: http://www.npr.org/event/music/24186...ive-in-concert

Don't suppose anybody can pull it and post for keepsies?
