Systrom downplays the idea that this courtship was in any way remarkable. “I think everyone thinks that the acquisition was made in a dark room with Trent Reznor music playing. Do you know what I mean? Like there was some dramatic thing,” he says, referencing a scene from The Social Network. “And it turns out that some of the biggest decisions get made relatively quickly, without much fanfare.”

Superhumanoids (no, never heard of them either) covered MotP. It's synth pop. It's female vocals. It's pretty damn good.

Glad to see a cover that goes in a different direction. A song like that or Wish usually gets the "look at how big my rock cock is" treatment.

Ken Jeong's character is apparently going to give a karaoke performance of 'Hurt' in The Hangover Part III. http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2956371456/nm0421822

Jeesh. And they totally should have posted the best Reptile ever from Fragility (think it's a hidden easter egg on AATCHB - why, I'll never get).

"Often referred to as "Closer to God,""

    really? is it?

also, how is "and all that could have been" not on this list? the whole thing felt really...pedantic.

Easiest way to tell if a "best of" list was made by some casual people who have heard (or heard of) NIN, Closer is the #1 song.
Don't get me wrong, I love Closer too, but anyone who has listened to enough of NIN to feel confident in making a top 10 list is not going to say Closer is the end all be all of Trent's musical career.

    NIN-Spotting 2013

I love me some Closer, but #1? Really? It's still strange to me that out of everything he's done, THAT is the most well known. It still doesn't seem like a radio/hit type song. But, you can tell some people just like that "shock value" in the lyrics. Which is odd to me.

I still love listening to it, although I was glad to see it tossed for NIN|JA. I've always liked it for all the little background type sounds that build throughout that don't really come across live.

On that same note, Last is one of my favorite songs (which isn't uncommon as I've gathered), and I always liked it for the same type of reason in that, while the guitar riff sounds the same throughout on the first listen, it actually changes subtly with each verse, getting heavier and heavier. I was super excited when it was announced for Rock Band, only to find that it's the same riff over and over :/

Last does benefit a lot from some mild multitrack fiddling (thank you Rock Band). Great sound, but somewhat repetitive.

Anyway, as this is the NIN spotting thread... Lamborghini's just had its 50th anniversary, 350 cars totalling 190,000 horsepower descended on Italy and toured the country with a police escort, and from what I'm hearing and seeing, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. And I'm stuck at home with massive exhaustion. That's What I Get. There, this post is now on-topic.

Brief interview but pretty nice! Getting more of an idea of what Trent want's to achieve with the new live shows. Thanks for the link!

EDIT: also just listened to that MOTP cover. I'd love to say I knew what to expect, but that would be a blatant lie. That was so different, I really enjoyed it!

Not sure if this has been noted, but Trent's listed as one of the names interviewed in Louder Than Hell, a nearly 800 page oral history of heavy metal. The whole book is culled from over two decades of interviews, so it's likely his stuff is from a previous interview. Looks pretty interesting though, and comes out tomorrow on iTunes.

Just read that Rolling Stone article. Head Like A Hole. Thrash metal? Obviously. It's up there with Puppets, obviously.

Queens of The Stone Age - Kalopsia teaser. Trent shares the chorus with Josh Homme.

is that Trent at around 1:28? sounds almost like it but then... not

also, new Kanye album will be "dope", sound like NIN:

In late April, West visited Def Jam's New York offices – pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian reportedly in tow – to preview the disc. Sources familiar with the project say it's even darker and more twisted than 2010's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, with one song that drew comparisons toNine Inch Nails.
