From Morrissey's FB page just now:
Morrissey is thankful for being invited to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live tomorrow, February 26. However, he cannot morally be on a television program where the cast members of Duck Dynasty will also be guests. Morrissey would be honored to play the show, if Duck Dynasty were removed.

He's gettin' pretty pasted in the comments...

Good on Moz I say. That rebuttal was an awesome read. I'm a meat addict myself but I've got a lot of respect for vegetarians/vegans (hoping one day I will have the strength/drive to kick the meat habit but it's unlikely). Great to see someone standing up for their beliefs and not backing down in the face of inane ridicule.

Anyway, I'd seriously question the value of a talk show that would prefer to have the "stars" of some lame reality show everyone will have forgotten about in three years over the frontman of one of the most important bands of the past 40 years...

    MORRISSEY
    Live in L.A.

One of music’s most enigmatic and intriguing figures returns to centre-stage. Morrissey’s prolific career as a solo recording artist, singer and lyricist has generated an array of hits and much critical acclaim, whilst he remains one of the most influential and iconic individuals in the industry. Being the first concert film from Morrissey in many years, this rare show captures the former Smiths frontman playing live at the Hollywood High School in Los Angeles to a legion of loyal fans

Set list for that evening was:

Alma Matters / Ouija Board, Ouija Board / Irish Blood, English Heart / You Have Killed Me / November Spawned A Monster / Maladjusted / You're The One For Me, Fatty / Still Ill / People Are The Same Everywhere / Speedway / That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore / Meat Is Murder / Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want / To Give (The Reason I Live) / Everyday Is Like Sunday / I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris / Action Is My Middle Name / Let Me Kiss You // The Boy With The Thorn In His Side

I was surprised to see that it was actually playing here. Watched it on Thursday in a theater with about 8 other people in it. A great concert...which was expected. Brought me back to when I saw him in '12. I hope he remains healthy and is able to perform in the future.

I prefer The Smiths to the Beatles. In the British rock chapel Morrissey/Marr own Lennon/Mcartney. I also think their first album is far better than The Queen is Dead. Much darker. But more beautiful.
I need to get Morrissey's autobiography probably one of the most anticipated books for a while.

He admits to being in a serious relationship for two years in the 90s with Jake Owen Waters his personal assistant.

    http://www.theguardian.com/music/201...t-relationship

Morrissey is the best interviewee of all time, its about time he released a book. Be interesting to see what else he has to say.

Whats everyone's Top 10 Smiths songs? Mine

I had tickets to the Live in LA movie, but didn't go as I didn't have a date. I've also had the privilege to see Moz once two years ago and it was heaven.
I can't compile a top ten list but my favorite Smiths song is I Know Its Over. While I don't have Moz's entire discography, Ringleader of the Tormentors is probably my favorite Moz album.

Got "25 Live" pre-ordered on DVD and Blu-ray as well as Moz's "Autobiography" about to be published by Penguin Classics -

    http://www.penguinclassics.co.uk/nf/...394817,00.html

Autobiography covers Morrissey’s life from his birth until the present day.
Steven Patrick Morrissey was born in Manchester on May 22nd 1959. Singer-songwriter and co-founder of the Smiths (1982-1987), Morrissey has been a solo artist for twenty-six years, during which time he has had three number 1 albums in England in three different decades.
Achieving eleven Top 10 albums (plus nine with the Smiths), his songs have been recorded by David Bowie, Nancy Sinatra, Marianne Faithfull, Chrissie Hynde, Thelma Houston, My Chemical Romance and Christy Moore, amongst others.
An animal protectionist, in 2006 Morrissey was voted the second greatest living British icon by viewers of the BBC, losing out to Sir David Attenborough. In 2007 Morrissey was voted the greatest northern male, past or present, in a nationwide newspaper poll. In 2012, Morrissey was awarded the Keys to the City of Tel-Aviv.
It has been said ‘Most pop stars have to be dead before they reach the iconic status that Morrissey has reached in his lifetime.’

I'm not sure if its appropriate to post about it here, but Morrisey is the only reason why I follow Pitchfork on facebook - the comments on his many, many, many, many canceled -insert show, book, cd, tour, dinner, tv appearance etc here- articles are hysterical.

Sometimes "The Queen is Dead" and "Shoplifters..." are really close to the "number 1 spot", yet the Lyrics on "I know it's over" are too f'n powerful!

Orson Swells posted the additional information / image in the thread:

Morrissey to release cover of Lou Reed classic - RTE

    Excerpt:

"The digital download of Morrissey's Satellite of Love on November 29 will be followed in January by the release of Satellite Of Love (Live) 7" picture disc, 12" heavyweight vinyl and three-track digital downloads, all featuring You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side from Your Arsenal and previously unreleased live tracks... Parlophone have also said more Morrissey news will be announced soon."

    Interesting. Let's hope he's re-signed with them.

    Parlophone release
    - true-to-you.net
    10 November 2013

Parlophone Records will release Satellite of Love by Morrissey as a digital download on December 2nd. Recorded live at the Chelsea Ballroom at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on 25 November 2011, the release will be further available in January as a heavyweight 12-inch disc and a 7-inch picture disc, supported by additional live tracks.

Satellite of Love is, of course, a song written by Lou Reed, who died on 27th October.

The release of Satellite of Love will coincide with the issue of Morrissey's Autobiography in audiobook as read by acclaimed British actor David Morrissey.

“Morrissey has two albums’ worth of songs ready,” says guitarist Jesse Tobias - uncut.co.uk

Morrissey has two albums of songs prepared, his guitarist Jesse Tobias reveals in the new issue of Uncut, out on Thursday (November 28).

Tobias explains that the singer, whose last full-length release was 2009’s Years Of Refusal, has a huge wealth of material ready to record and release.

“We’re long overdue for the studio,” he says. “There are two albums’ worth of songs ready.

“I’ve heard almost everything and feel it’s some of the strongest material to date. Musically diverse. Anthemic. Even in their infant stages the songs excite me.”

Morrissey’s friends and bandmates chart the singer’s turbulent year in the new Uncut, taking in illness, hospital stays, meat-free arenas and cancelled tours, as well as the huge success of his Autobiography.

The new issue of Uncut, dated January 2014, is out on Thursday (November 28).

David Morrissey, the "Walking Dead" actor who will be doing the audio version of Autobiography, was interviewed by the AV Club and was asked about the experience of recording the audio book. He gave what I think is a nice, intelligent answer.

The Walking Dead’s David Morrissey on keeping secrets and surviving as the Governor - The A.V. Club

    Excerpt:

AVC: You recently recorded the audiobook version of Autobiography, by singer-songwriter and former Smiths frontman Morrissey. As a longtime fan of his, what were you most surprised to learn while reading the book?

DM: He’s always had that tag of “miserable Morrissey,” and he certainly can indulge that side of himself. But his humor is unbelievable. I had to stop reading many times because I was laughing so much. His cutting wit is second to none. Not that that surprised me—the consistency of it is amazing. There’s something Wildean about his writing—his putdowns are genius. It was just constantly jumping out at me. He’s somebody who’s in a place now where he’s very secure in his life and his music and I think that security and that belief in himself comes through in the book. He challenges many things in the book, many aspects of his past. There’s a lot of anger toward the music press, but in such a witty way. I hope I’ve done it justice, because it’s such a wonderful book.
